Tuner code from map 5
I am wondering if anyone has thrown the tuner detection code from map 5 on the jb3 1.3 software. It says on the map list that it won't but I really don't want to void my warrranty since I am close to taking my car in for service and don't want to buy a bt scanner anytime soon.

You're asking for it. If you're going to run a tune like that, you need the scanner, or just accept the fact that you're very likely to have issues with the dealer.
Any of these tunes can throw tampering codes under the right/wrong conditions. |

if you run a tune, there's a chance you'll get a code! simple as that, there's no 100% tune that wont. If you follow the guidelines there's a chance that MAP5 or 3 wont give you one. But if you run into lower octane or bad gas or something you may. Do not run a tune thinking you'll be safe with out a scanner.

That's the smart move. You'd be pissed at yourself if you took the chance and they nailed you for a tampering code, especially if it was an expensive warranty claim.

When I finally decide to mod my car I'm definitely getting a BT tool in the same order.
It would be silly to risk voiding the warranty on your ten thousand dollar engine because you didn't wanna spend $300. |

Well you want to be able to keep some codes in order to get warranty work done . the Canbus erases ALL codes. Bad solution

BT does WAY more than just read and clear codes. No matter what tune you run, it's worth the investment.
There are substantially more codes that can be read that aren't tuner related. Automtically clearing them stops you from understanding what's going on with a issue and how to approach the dealer with the issue. To the OP, there is NO gaurentee when you modify your car to preform outside manufacters specs. |
