135i Exhaust upgrade options

I am currently in an fortunate/unfortunate circumstance where I have been given the option of upgrading my exhaust (my car was rear ended).

Insurance has quoted my stock axle back to be $1320 so that is all I have to play with...

Options:
- BMW performance exhaust (+$700-800), sourced via Insurance
- Meisterschaft GT (+$800), sourced locally
- Berk street axle back (will simply go stock and then purchase outside of insurance +$700)
- Stock exhaust (+$0)

All current options are about the same price in terms of my own $ outlay.
Note: insurance does not wish to import from US due to possible delays/issues. So sourcing within Australia is the only way...

Are there any other options? Which one would you go?

I have no experience with the different exhausts. But from a practical perspective, if your car has been rear-ended and you think you might have other issues (e.g. transmission) down the line, I would go with stock. You don't want to blow $700-$800 now on a car you might want to move on from in the near future

That's true and sad at the same time...

I've only had the car for 2 months and have already spent a significant amount on the car - so would definitely look at keeping it in the long term.

Performance exhaust & delete the center muffler, the sound is just ear porn & when cruising around isn't too loud.

http://www.bmraw.com/bmw-135i-performance-exhaust/ gives you a ballpark for a brand new one,

Hmm not sure about deleting the centre muffler!

Insurance has got the BMW PE quoted at $2000 + $ for a bunch of other parts required to make it fit (not sure about this). Works out to be the same as BMR's pricing... seems like 135i parts have gone up in price from its prime!

Yeah.... I'm inclined to go for berk/meisterschaft (because of PE's ridiculous pricing), however have yet to find a suitable distributor

You won't be able to do the PE though BMW Australia or your dealer. (I'm assuming that's where the $2k figure came from?)

Although they can and will quote a price, they won't be able to order it as it's not tested/legal here with regard to Australian Design Standards for emissions and noise...

You'd have to get the money from them and purchase from Stu or O/S...

Holy cow, that's gone up a lot recently, i'm sure it was about $1500 a month or so back.

I wonder why such a huge premium over the other 1 series range BMW performance exhausts?

Just get the stock system ($0) and get a good perf exhaust shop to replace the y-pipes, secondary cats and resonator with two magnaflow hotdog style resonators and a y pipe. ($600-$700)

(This is what Im about to do).

I found this catback on ebay which looks like it might be pretty good

Exoticspeed S1 Exhaust 2011-ON BMW 135i N55 Catback 3" 76mm,Dual carbon tips

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261491918...84.m1438.l2649

I like it because it has the vacuum actuator so it could still be quiet when driving normally

Ended up with the Meisterschaft GT thanks to Jin@Active Motorwerke.

Quite a pricey axle back but from various reviews a very nice sounding exhaust.

Will be picking the car up on Friday and providing a review from my experience over the weekend!

Nice, have a mate who had the Meisterschaft GT on his M3, sounded great but pretty damn loud.

Yeah I've heard a lot about how loud they are on the M3 hopefully it's not so loud on the 135i since being turbo it should quiten it down quite a bit.
