If it does happen to fail, I will definitely look at making a case against BMW!
BMW will replace you HPFP but you will have to pay for it.
Or it will be an expensive case if you have the time and money.
The rest of us lucky enough to have a buggered one have forked out for a replacement and no issues since.

The clutch has a delay valve in it that you might want to remove. It feels much better with it off, gives you more a direct feel.
If the car has done more than 60k kms and hasn't had plugs changed, I would replace the plugs when you do the JB4.
By the way, were you booked with us to have the car check?

Nice one mate, be wary of the blinding metallic dash haha. I have the exact interior and around early morning the sun shines off the metal straight in your eyes.

Welcome!

Keep your former JDM shame to yourselves guys, we really need to keep the moral tone of this forum. It's a stain on your soul that can never be washed away. Don't ask, don't tell.

Getting my CDV delete done and interim oil service at active motorwerkes today!
Hopefully I feel a big difference once done!

Tossing up on whether to purchase a gloss/matte black grille. Not sure whether I prefer the look over stock....

Will also be plastidipping the wheels and read bootlip spoiler either this weekend or next.

Wow! This is probably my butt dyno talking but it seriously feels like the car has much more torque with the CDV delete + oil change from Long life to Castrol

Haha mate, you are absolutely my interstate counterpart. We've both just come from quick JDM cars. We both looked at buying the same car, then ended up getting almost identical ones.. and now you're deliberating over the same thing I am, either gloss or matte black grille. I'm still not even close to a decision there. And I'm thinking of plastidipping my wheels too. You going black?

Yeah I'm planning to plastidip them black but there goes another dilemma... keep them matte black or add some gloss too

I have SGM with gloss black grills and gloss black wheels.

I tried plastidip it's a pain in the butt to clean the dipped wheels, looks like crap on the wheels after a few months and leaves a mess when you rip it off. If you have any cracking paint or get any stone chips when you rip off the plastidip it will pull off that paint from the wheel. It will also rip off the chrome from your wheel caps if you dip it so be careful.

Buy a new set of gloss black wheels and keep your stock ones as spares!

Oh damn... that makes me rethink plasti dipping!

Have you got pics of your car with the plasti dip on your wheels?
And pics of your current car atm with black grilles

Well maybe I won't use plastidip for the wheels, but I think I've talked myself into plastidipping my front grilles. I've decided I like the look of matte black grilles on SGM rather than gloss. A quick search turns up hundreds of photos and forum threads of people pastidipping their grilles. Looks good, is reversible, and very cheap to do.

You told me you thought my stripes looked like vinyl =(. Why lie Pete why?!?

On a more serious note, I've done a bit of plasti dipping myself. It's good fun and looks good if you are careful but I think it depends one where it is and how often you clean it as to maintenance and removal. I've done matte black stripes from bumper to bumper and they clean quite easily. I use liquid spray on Meguair's wax on them. Any other polish, or sealant I've tested (on a test patch) either starts to dissolve it or marks it.

I've also plasti dipped my front air intake scoops a metallic gold/yellow. In that position (right in the front) and because they can't be easily reached they do get a lot of dirt sticking to them and look nasty after a while. I had to pull them out the other day and really scrub them to get the colour to pop again. In saying that, I was very very surprised how hard I could scrub without any of it coming off at all.

In the end, done properly, I personally think plasti dip can look great. Make sure the surface you are dipping is properly clean, apply even light layers and also apply enough layers to make it durable. Wash frequently to keep it clean looking. Use Meguair's liquid wax to make it easier to clean.

No issues with plastidip on the body or on the grills, it's just (from my experience) not worth the hassle for wheels. It's fun for a while until it gets dirty and starts peeling...
