Hey guys, I am responding from my blackberry, so I will respond in detail later when I get home from work. Knob, I will get the daylight pictures up tomorrow, sorry I must have missed that request earlier. And if you are in LA, I would suggest having the shop do it here that way you wouldn't have to pay for shiPing the kit, and they already have installed these before. Any other specific photos you guys would like let me know so I can take them tomorrow. Have a great Saturday Everyone!

I would agree, few pics from different angles, etc. Perhaps same shots with parking lights only, headlights, and then everything off. That should give a fair comparison for daytime outdoor lighting.

hmmm are the angel eyes on your car blue, or is that because of the camera? I think the closest to white would be ideal for all cars. Blue looks great on some cars(ex your black), but not on others(ex red). Also, my friend got pulled over once for having blue lights on his car xD.

Video is misleading since it is for depo headlight conversion. But from what I gathered from reading below that is that they are selling LED bulbs that work with the stock Angel Eye Rings that are present on the 3 series.

Yes, the camera makes them appear a little bit more blue in some pictures, especially one's where I have adjusted the color levels. In person, it looks like a "plasma white" meaning a white with a slight blueish hue to it, which is really evident when you see my HIDs being projected. However, thats what I think they look like, others may call it just blue.

I'd like to throw something else out there in regards to this conversion. Rather than using LEDs for the AEs, perhaps we can get them replaced altogether by CCFL rings? See the thread below on a German forum where people are replacing the AE rings on the Depo headlights with CCFL rings. In my opinion, they look phenomenal, even when off, and they get rid of that bluish tinge that the Depo rings have.

and California weather is messing it up. Its overcast where I am at, and I don't feel that would give you guys the "true" in direct sunlight pictures that you guys want. And BBallGMS, what did you mean by direct comparison? (My Fogs are HID as well)

CCFL rings have troubles that LEDs do not. There are more cons about them than good, even though they are cheaper. (They have trouble starting up in cold weather, etc...)

Really?? My brother had Umnitza CCFL rings on his E46 M3 for years and never once had a problem with them at all.

I don't like that they chose to put the small gap at the top, rather than on the bottom like the OE lights, but other than that, I think they look sweet, particularly when they're off. The whole reason I got involved with this thread is that the way the Depo lights come stock are a pretty poor implementation of the corona rings (the actual BMW name) and they look like an afterthought. What Sam is trying to hook us all up with is certainly a large improvement over that, but I think the CCFL rings take it one step further in terms of making the rings look more integrated and like they're "supposed to be there."

There are only two things bugging me about Sam's mod: the blue tint to the Depo AEs, and the fact that up close, you can see that the AEs are made up of individual LEDs, even when the lights are on. I'm not saying they're deal breakers for me, but to me, those two qualities make the lights look something less than OE in appearance. And, at least for me, I want the lights to look as OE as possible.

Regarding the pic above, what about that don't you like? Other than the ring gaps being at the top of the light, they sure do look almost identical to the latest E9X coupe AEs.

Apparently CCFL have many issues regarding ballasts and bulbs blowing, as well as cold start issues that LED does not. Another thing is that CCFL is not as bright and hard to see in the daylight which is what people do not like. This is why LED is the much more preferred upgrade compared to CCFL. It is a newer technology that takes the place of the older brother CCFL as well as its issues.

The CCFL will only use 4 bulbs behind the ring as compared to the LED which has lots of individual bulbs to seem it together. I would assume that CCFL would create a blob because of that.

The blue tint is an easy fix by lowering the temp of the color. I do see your point on the individual LED's... Getting a perfect OEM type light is a problem faced by all 3rd party manufacturers of halos. It can be close to OEM but never will be OEM, which is why you pay less... ($700 compared to $3600).

@Knob the gaps above the light are not present on the DEPO lightings from Sam's picture.

Audi's only have few LED's and you can tell they are spaced out. This design is harder to tell that they are individual.
