No law, is an added option on the Mini. You'll find most NA Audi's and MB have rear fogs std. It's just not common in US, people use to "kindly" tell me my brake lights were malfunctioning in my old A4.

You can get the Euro rear fog switch from LeatherZ
I have rear fogs (once I installed the switch).

fyi, the current M3 comes std with a similar setup. alcantara is not quite cloth, but i love alcantara (have in in my R8) but not really a fan of cloth. looks cheap in a BMW, but just my opinion

Maybe they think Americans need more rear seat leg room than the rest of the world. Or they might think we would get all caught up in the nets.

Here in TN, we would probably rip 'em out and use 'em for fishin'.

Looks outstanding!

I know that they are available for the 135i (Coupe). You can configure them on the German car configurator.

Would you mind, the next time you go to the dealer, asking the parts guy for the part numbers for the seat covers for the Coupe? Including the part numbers for the door panels and rear side panels (the cloth comes attached to the door panel).

My plan is to order leatherette and when picking up the car in Munich to swing by a dealer and buy a set of these seat covers. But since they most likely don't have them in stock, I would need to pre-order via telephone and pick them up after I get the car.

There might be other people willing to order these items, so you would be doing a service to the community.

ADC,
They seem to be more than seat covers. The fabric is actually sewn into the side bolsters and you will have to remove all the seat centers front and back plus the thigh supports. Sound very expensive.

A custom upholstery shop should be able to do something similar.

That's what they call "seat covers". It's a shell made of 2 materials (in this case) - leather and fabric. They also usually have a sturdy backing of some sort. These attach via wire-clamps to the seat rods that sit inside the foam cushions. Removing and installing these is not very easy, but also not brain surgery - plus you can pay an uphlestery shop a couple of hundred just for the installation.

There's a bottom piece, seatback piece, thigh extension, etc. I mapped all the part numbers on www.realoem.com using an E87 (5 door) Euro configuration. I even got estimated prices in Euro.

I figured the seat covers front and back (without the door panels, rear side panels or headrests) would cost around E1000-1200, translating to around $1500-1800. A little more than the cost of the leather option here in the US - and I'd be willing to pay this much for the seats, but perhaps not an additional E800 for the panels.

If you just want BMW OEM cloth covers (no leather sides), it would be far less expensive - only about 60% of the cost quoted above.

But it would be nice to have the actual part numbers for the coupe so I can inquire about the exact cost beforehand.

Don't you guys have higher prices and get bombarded with many taxes though? Maybe your taxes aren't as bad as Europes though.

It's the price we pay for living in the best place in the world.

We even have the best most poisonous animals in the world to keep the numbers of tourists down!

I prefer the Alcantra cloth seats, too. Something like the cloth used on the seats in these BMWs:

That material looks like it would be nasty to sit in if i were driving naked

I think you would have other issues to worry about, other than the material, if you were driving naked - hahah

to be honest the material is really good - doesn't exactly feel like suede (smoother) but, grips very well. Actually you might like it driving naked! LOL

To me, the leather would be worse for driving naked. Well, at least BMW was nice enough to equip the new leather with "Sun Reflective Technology", so it is probably less likely to stick to you...not that I am thinking about driving naked or anything..:headbang:
