How's every 1 doing?

Just read a thread that HORRIFIED me!! http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16527

It tells of a nightmare situation one of our fellow addicts is going through and a few other addicts added their horror stories. I've had my 1 for about 2.5 weeks and love it. How's everyone else doing? Please speak up as I need some reassurance that the 1ers aren't all gonna fall apart!! Someone talk me in off the ledge.

Easy does it...

Every automaker is going to make a few lemons. Sometimes, it just doesn't go right.

That doesn't mean that every car of a particular model is going to be problematic. I had tremendous problems with a 2000 Z3 and purchased 4 BMWs since and never had anywhere near those issues.

I strongly believe every car will have some issues - especially in this day of ubiquitous electronics. But, after running my 135i on the in Europe with plenty of Autobahn time at 100+ MPH, I saw and had no major mechanical problems.

Upon redelivery, I intend to have them take a look at one iDrive issue that I noticed, but it was hardly anything that would impair my ability to enjoy the car.

Breathe easy and enjoy the wonderful machine that you have. Go out and find a curvy road and throw it around a little bit. You'll forget everything else.

No major problems here, and I've tracked the car already. I've just over 3000 miles. The only issue I've seen so far is that my third brake light cover is cracked in half, and this issue seems pretty widespread. I absolutely love the car though, and don't plan on getting rid of it any time soon.

My third brake light just fell out mysteriously. I also heard a very strange static noise when I opened the door one day for like 30 mins. Luckily it went away.

I'm heading to the stealership about the light right now.

Outside of this, the car seems to be fine.

I don't own the car, but fwiw, i think the BMWs in general tend to have more problems. You enjoy the cars a lot more but they are going to need a little more attention.

Have you ever owned a BMW:iono:

I still have a 1999 328i with 110,000 miles on it. Only replaced original battery, brake pads and tires once. Runs good. Daughter drives it everyday.

Previously owned 2001 330i, 2002 325Ci (wife drove this car) No problems with either.

Now drive 2008 135i and wife drives 2008 335i convertible.

NO problems...I guess I am just lucky:thumbup:

Unfortunately not joking... It hasn't been the smoothest relationship, particularly considering the car is only 8 weeks old.

To be fair the gearbox, clutch and flywheel were all caused by one tiny oil leak... but the net result is I'm driving a 118d hatch again... sigh.

Antwerpen is great, you should definitely visit and let me know. In my opinion it's the best city in Belgium  and I'm a foreigner so that makes me objective...

No problems here. Remember, it's a new model... but worth it.

8500 miles on mine and it's been flawless. Drove from Spartanburg to Houston, then from Houston to Watkins Glen and back...zero problems! I've tracked it, I've autocrossed it, I love it!!

I don't think BMW's are any higher maintenance than any other cars on the road. I've had my 318ti Club Sport since new...it's been flawless for 13 years and still looks and runs like the day I picked it up, both my M3's run like tops and have never required anything other than standard preventative maintenance (fluid changes, brakes, tires, etc.) and I've tracked/autocrossed every car I own. As long as you take car of them, they keep on running. Even my 33 year old 2002 is still purring like a kitten.

Like Matthew mentioned, there may be some first model year glitches that need to be addressed but I have no doubt the 135 will last just as well as all the others.

Over 12,000 miles including a very comfortable 8,000 mile cross-country trip. Absolutely no problems and overall fuel economy of 27.5 mpg.

8,000 miles on mine, 2 long road trips (1000 miles for one, 4000 for another).

The only problem I've had is the passenger seat belt tensioner.

128i Coupe - 11000 km's in so far.

- Cracked 3rd brake light cover.

- Scratch on drivers door interior panel that was there on delivery has still not been addressed.

I dropped by the dealer & they looked at it & we arranged a time to fix it.

Whilst on my way to the dealer to make the appointment (which I'd taken an afternoon off work to make) they called to cancel.

They said they'd call me within a week to re-schedule. That was 5 weeks ago.

- The drivers side wiper doesn't wipe properly.

It has uneven pressure on the windshield which leaves 2 large patches of unwiped glass. Very annoying & again, still awaiting somebody to address the issue (isn't a new blade worth trying Mr BMW dealer?).

- Squeaky brakes!

I was told it'd go away within a few 1000 km's. 11000 in & they're still there.

- Terrible after sales service!

- Not that great a car in the first place. Not much fun to drive.

All except the last point are minor things, but in conclusion if it wasn't so cheap for what you get, I would've bought something else.

In fact this will probably be the 1st & last BMW I'll buy.

Ouch! Sounds like your dealership is jerking you around. Bed your brakes and that'll solve the squeakiness. Search here i remember someone posted a how to on bedding brakes.

i'm just a hair under 1900mi...had the car in the US 3 weeks now, put 1,366mi in Europe, with a lot of 7-9hrs in the car.

The only thing worth mentioning is a slight rattle underneath the car, its not definitive for me to complain or take to BMW yet but its been present when I got stuck on some wet leaves on a cobblestone driveway in Florence trying to get unstuck and DTC just made my left rear tire spin and I smelt a little clutch.

Did my first oil change upon re-delivery and car drives smooth and flawlessly otherwise.
