There is a way, I remember seeing a thread here about a member who did the conversion. I'll try to search for it.

Here it is, user "kirkx5m" did it
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...74&postcount=7

User "dangerlucas" got the part numbers from Dan (I'm assuming from United BMW)
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...65&postcount=8

51 43 8 046 487

51 43 8 046 489
51 43 8 046 490
61 31 9 197 759

$689.62

The price might have changed a bit and you need to provide your VIN.

This is one mod I really want to do because I think it would look so much better, but I'm just holding off until I do a few other things. I also looked into getting the headliner custom wrapped in suede and the quote I got for that was $250 if I remember correctly.

I did this on my 1. I ordered Lemon interior, and it came with Grey A,B, C pilalrs and a Grey roof liner. Everything else in the car was Black/lemon, so it drove me crazy that the Grey was in there.

I ordered the parts from United BMW, and Dan created a new item (headliner) after my order for anyone else wanting to buy all the parts. You need to give your VIN for the electronic parts, because your options are probably different than others.

Install: I got a quote of $1,600 at my delear to install it, and said no thanks. I just ripped everthing out one weekend, and then spent the next weekend putting in the new stuff. It wasnt hard, but it takes time to figure out how to get everything out without breaking stuff. Its doable, with basic tools by anyone who thinks they can tackle this job. the sunroof is the hearest piece to get out, but I figured it out without any instrucitons, or help and I got it all back togehter without a problem. i am no mechanic, so if you are willing to tyr, you can do it.

hope this helps you. the results are great and well worth it. I love my all lemon/black interior now!

It's great isn't it? I get compliments on my interior all the time. Not bad when most people consider the 1 series interiors "plain" or "boring."

I'm glad to see that someone actually went through with it. I've been debating this for a long time now and might actually go forward with it soon. One question though, how did you get the old headliner out and the new one in? Does the door open enough for this?

I haven't even received my car yet haha so I don't know how much (if at all) the gray will bother me.

But it already pisses me off that it would've only cost $200 had I gone with the M-sport package and now it'll run me like $700 or so for me to do it myself (is that right?)

I got the M-sport but no anthracite headliner because that option only came on the late 2009 builds and on, correct me if I am wrong :/

Not too many threads on this idea so I'll bump this one. Came across a few part numbers on GetBMWParts:

51448045133 - Headliner COUPE, w/light package & alarm prep, black
51448045132 - Headliner COUPE, w/o light package & w/alarm prep, black
51448045130 - Headliner COUPE, w/o light package & alarm prep, black
51448045131 - Headliner COUPE, w/light package & w/o alarm prep, black

But on their site, those are all $780 before shipping. Did come across a link for the same part number for $600 on "Euro Car OEM Parts"
http://www.eurocaroemparts.com/store...art132047.html

This is just for the headliner, so it seems the price of these parts have gone up drastically since Dangerlucas' quote from Dan@United of $689 for all the parts, about 5 years ago.

I'm assuming you can fold down the rear seats and pull it out the trunk easier than the doors... hopefully someone who has done it can correct me on this.

I was able to get an anthracite headliner from a junkyard, and we managed to get it in my 1 through the door. You gotta be patient/careful not to bend it, it's a pretty tight fit.
