Discounts on Ordered/On Lot 135i's

For you guys that have purchased an 09 model year 1 series, what sort of discounts are you seeing on an ordered car, in percentage terms.

I realize the invoice vs MSRP on the 135i is around 8% - so is anyone seeing say $1.8k off (4%) on a $45k 135i?

Thanks.

Well 8% off is invoice for the most part - easier to guage where peope are between 0% and 8%.

If that's true, and 4% = ~$1800, then getting one for 4% over invoice is a HORRIBLE deal. I forgot what the actual number is, but I'm getting one for about $250 over invoice. You do the math!

If you don't mind me asking - where did you get your 1 series for $500.00 over invoice?
Thank you!

I bought my 09 a few weeks ago. MSRP was 46,650. I end up getting it for 43,000.

Invoice was 43,500 (approx). It was on the dealers lot, brand new with 9 miles on the car.

Ask around. I'd be surprised if your local dealer wouldn't be willing to deal in that range, especially for a car already on the lot.

The world has changed since last summer, when everyone was paying MSRP.

And x2 on European Delivery - although the savings is pretty much eaten up by the cost of a vacation in Europe, if you were already planning to go (as I was) it's too good a deal to not pass up. I'm doing a combined European Delivery then re-delivery in the States at the Performance Center!

This really depends on location, South Florida dealerships have no difficulties selling the 1 series, they sell very easily for MSRP, no need for them to go below that.

Good lucking purchasing a 135 for a little over invoice in Miami, and if you have, I would love to know the which dealership you got this great deal from.

That sounds like a great deal. I ordered my 09 in November 08. MSRP was 46,720, the dealer told me his invoice is 93% of that (including advertising and training fees) which worked out to $43,449. I paid $500 over that.

Appreciate the updates - looks like location matters somewhat BUT $500-$1000 over inovice is not unreasonable for an '09. I have seen a few remaining new '08s with stickers of ~$45k listed for ~$39k.

My personal expertise deals with car sales and protecting buyers from half truths and flat out ignorance on how to buy a car. I would like to recommend a company that teaches people how to do it correctly and helps retrain your brain from four letter words like MSRP and comments like "well its a new model so I will have to pay close to MSRP".

The company is called fightingchance.com.
No it is not my company but one I highly recommend and one I personally use every time I buy a car.

The truth on the 1-series is that it is not the big seller that bmw thought it was going to be. Despite the adjustment in a lower economy it still is not selling the sales targets projected in the US. January was the lowest sales number for all car companies in the last 20 years. The average US dealer only sales 4-5 1 series a year. Yes a year, that is seven times less the best selling model - 3 series. I know BMW NA and BMW salesmen will have strokes for me giving out this information but I cannot stand to see people taken day after day. Right now if you are paying more than 200 over invoice, in any city, on any 1 series model, with any options then you are paying too much.
Best of luck.

You have to learn to pit dealers against each other.

Believe me, the price will definitely come down. I don't care where you live.

Shelly BMW near Los Angeles offered me just above invoice + the current special (3.9 and two months payments) on an on the lot 1er. Too bad we couldn't work through the fact I'm an out of state buyer or they would have had a deal. No way am I going to pay Cali sales tax if the rate is lower in TX, then have to worry about not getting the diff back once i register here or even having to pay sales tax twice (kinda hard to do the research when you're staring the salesman in the face)...

You don't pay California Taxes if you register your car in TX, you need to pay the states tax for Texas.

+1

FAX every dealer within driving distance.

Personally, if I lived on the east coast, I'd do a performance delivery in South Carolina. In that case, you can use any dealership in the US.
