I had a look at carsales it there are few around 50-52k 08 125i model and about 52-60k 135i. However, i had a look at the car valuation is says between 42k-46k for 125i and 135i is about 48-55k something like that

Cozza's example when he was selling his 125 was a good one to show how crap the generic Red Book prices are. he approached them for a custom valuation and it came in much higher if I remember correctly. Red Book is so conservative it's not funny.

decide on your budget first then find a good example of what you want that fits for a price you're willing to pay.

Carsales is probably the best indicator.

At the end of the day it's only worth what someone is willing to sell it for.

Buying from a private person might be worthwhile considering when looking to purchase a car with sporting pretensions. You get to eyeball the owner, and see if he is the type who has thrashed the car gutless during its short life. Yes, I know, drive it like you stole it, but there's no doubt that it shortens the time before replacement bits are necessary. I know I'd be a bit leary if the owner had his hat on backwards, and told me he he couldn't wait for his Evo or Golf GTR. Once the car gets into a yard, you lose the luxury of getting to know the previous owner.
