Jet Black Detail Pics

I finally got my car. I did not have the dealership do any sort of prep on the exterior of the car. I wanted to detail the car myself. I brought the car home and this was the process-
Wash, Clay Bar, Wash again. Polish with my flex 3401 using Menzerna P01066ff nano polish. The paint was severly scratched and major swirls. For today I simply went over the paint with a white pad and then used Zaino Z-5(2 coats) and then Zaino Z-2 one coat. This will help hide most of the scratches. I will tackle the major buffing later with some stronger polish and pad.

Ok, Lets Wash the car----

More washing

Clay Bar Time-

Anothe WASH

Ready For Polish

WOW...LOOK AT THE PAINT.. Steve Nash is throwing a Basketball at my CAR!!!!!!!!

OUCH!!! Brand new Jet Black Paint........

Wow, some nice water spots on the hood.... only in a small area though

Wow, Hood is now polished

Now Zaino Time

More pics to come....if anybody has pic requests, just let me know.

What happened to the paint? Your detail job is gorgeous. Beautiful.

Can you please take pics of the headlight knob and the 3 steering wheel stalks? I haven't seen any pics of these on the forum. Thanks.

Great pics, the coral red looks great with Jet Black. I would order mine the same way. Quite surprising how much scratching you got on delivery... You told them not to prep but it looks like someone went over the surface with a dirty wash mit...shame on the dealer!

Those Zaino products recovered it nicely though for sure.

I really don't know, when I threw my halogen lights on it I was like...OMG, It will come out, but it will require a more abrasive polish, I'm not ready to cut into the paint right now. Also, I wish I had a pic before I washed...Swirl City...

JohnL135I thanks for the fast post of the requested pics. 5 quick questions:

- On the headlight switch I see 4 positions - automatic/off/park lights/headlights. Where is the position for the daytime corona rings lights?

- On the indicator stalk, what does the "BC" button do?

- On the same stalk, is the adjustment knob for brightness of the dash lights?

- On the wiper stalk, is the know to adjust the intermittent frequency?

- On the same stalk what does the button with the wiper symbol with "A" do?

Nice work, what did you use to remove the protective coat that came with the car? Was it a waxy film or was it more of a plastic wrap?

There was no waxy film on the car. This is removed at the VPC with some sort of Hot Water Car wash system they have.

1. The daytime running lights are programed on-off thru the I-drive system. Or thru the cars computer system without the I-drive.
2. The BC button toggles thru "cruising range", "average speed", "average fuel consumption", "current fuel consumption" and "no information" displays on the instrument cluster. The BC button is also for "confirming selected display or setting values".
3. The up-down switch on the front of that same stalk is for "selecting display" and "setting values". And, yes, one of the settings available with this controller is for the dash lights. You can call up and select "instrument lighting", "check control", "oil level", "time", "date" and "service requirements".
4. Yes. Intermittent frequency (without rain sensor system) or sensitivity if equipped with the rain sensor system.
5. The "A" button activates the rain sensor system (if equipped) or activates the intermittent wipers without the rain sensor system.

JOHNL135i- Nice to see another car guy as fanatical about the cleaning / Detailing as I am.
Hate to mention this,..but swirl marks on a brand new car dont sound good.
I hope Im wrong,..but perhaps your car was damaged during shipping, and it was repaired / Buffed @ the VPC?
Car looks AWESOME By the Way. Close to my Spec. SWEET Garage too!
