Remote double button click?

I realise that if you click the button to open and hold it down the windows open, and vice versa when closing.

But, I noticed that if a double click the open button the windows open 3/4's.

Anyone else noticed this?

Really? On every other car I've owned, or rented, double clicking the unlock button would unlock all the doors not roll down the wind. (i.e. first click only unlocks drivers door, second click unlocks all doors)

Interesting... I changed the options to unlock all doors on remote-unlocking; maybe that has something to do with this?

The OP is from the UK. We've already established in this thread that the remote operates differently in non-US countries. In the U.S., you have to buy Comfort Access to get this stuff.

Which is why I'm bummed that I don't have it. But just to make sure, I double-clicked my remote tonight. The windows and the top stayed up. And I sighed.

Mine is set to unlock all doors with one click & I have CA. You guys got me curious and I just tried it - double clicking is the same as single clicking. Holding the button down in lieu of the second click opens the windows & top.

Auto-up/close function is not allowed in the US (and possibly Canada too). We're too sue-happy here for us to be trusted with something so convenient I gather.

In Australia if you set via the options screen that all (both) doors open on first click then if you click twice before opening the door, on opening it drops the window 3/4 way down the instant the door is opened. Allows for easier entry if you are parked close to a wall etc. when you close the door the window goes back up automatically. it takes 3 clicks if you have it set for 1 door unlock first press.

They open by remote, but do not close by remote. You have to be at the car, and use the key in the door keyslot, and twist the key, and hold it at 90 degrees, and the windows will shut then.

Correct. All BMWs - comfort access or not - will open all the windows and the sun roof if you hold the button down. This includes the US models.

What larry was pointing out was that sadly in the US we cannot CLOSE all of the windows and the sunroof by simply holding the lock button while people in other countries can. Yes, it's due to litigation concerns.

If you would like to close all the windows & sunroof from outside the car in the US you need to remove the metal key from the FOB, insert it into the door and hold it in t he lock position for several seconds.

Edit:
Damn you larry! You're too fast

Unless you've got CA, then you can close them by holding the lock location on the door handle.

That must be an American thing? We hold the lock button and after a second or so the roof and windows close up, you can stop the process at any point by stop pressing, the anti pinch function still works as I had a fishing rod out the window and forgot and it squeezed up to it and the dropped the window when it felt pressure, i'm sure if you had your arm or neck out the same would happen. Probably wouldn't feel that great on your trachea but i doubt it would harm you.

yeah.. it's definitely a US/North America thing. No doubt somebody would pinch a finger and win a few million in a civil suit.

No, they do not. This is not true. You have to have Comfort Access to open the windows and top with the remote. I can hold the button for hours. I can hit it two, three, more times. The windows stay up. The top stays up.

Amy,
That must be something to do with the convertable. I'm pretty sure the coupes without CA can open the windows with the remote, but they can't close them.

I have the 128 coupe and if I press the unlock button and hold it my windows will open, and then the sunroof will open as well. I can only close the windows and roof by putting the key in the door and lokcing the doors and holding the key there. I do not have the comfort access on my car either.

I noticed that you have to have hold down the unlock button for quite some time (maybe 5+ seconds?). If that doesn't work, then I'd do what the poster above me advised.
