I would ask a place like Manhart Racing GmbH. They are the Meisters when it comes to transplants.
There was also that guy from Sweden(?) on 1Addicts who install a 1M engine in his e87, maybe he can be of help to you.

I think the Getrag is more than capable of track duty. Might consider a lighter flywheel and clutch assembly?
Not sure how club racing is in the UK? But, modifying the drive line ie. engine swaps and or even transmissions can move you into another class in BMWCCA and SCCA racing. The idea of this is to keep the costs down and the playing field level.

I'm guessing no since the 1M has a modified gearbox from a N55 in it. Considering all the other M3 parts they used in the 1M I imagine they would have used the M3 gearbox if they could have.

Thought it was because it would make the car too expensive and push it closer into M3 territory pricewise. Really don't get the impression that BMW is interested in getting back to basics anymore.

I disagree, with a sunroof not even being an option as another example. BMW themselves have compared it to an E30 M3. In terms of price, the M3 you'd compare this to, the coupe, starts at just over $60,000 with no options. My 1M was $54,375 fully loaded with every option ticked except for metallic paint because I chose Alpine White. Metallic paint would have pushed it to $54,925. Still well below a bare bones M3 coupe. I just priced out a similarly equipped M3 couple on the BMW website and it comes to $72,395. Last edited by mrow; 10-15-2012 at 06:11 PM.. |

if you look up 'wide body E87' it'll come up with an N54 swap with M3 gearbox and other stuff. ED: your 130i doesn't need any strengthening gearbox wise, z4m came with the gearbox that we have, and they've done many an S54 supercharger setup through it... I'm banking on it holding an N54 successfully lol the 135i/335i gearbox could fit (i'm stiull not sure on the bellhousing), but size wise at least. it's a bit higher rated, but still you don't need it at all. |

As to the original poster, I would say go for the 1M's gearbox. It should almost certainly fit. |
