Cant we just use the Myele Inner tie rod & change the distance by a certain amount of threads. Seems to be same type of part as the Subaru

?

Not sure if serious.

The Subaru "Super Steer" Perrin part relocates the ball joint for the tie rod, effectively changing your rack ratio.

Altering the length of the tie rod itself will do nothing but alter your toe, messing up your alignment.

Has anyone completed the m3 steering rack across the pond or any updates in their old thread?

Some guy on N54tech did it on his 335i. Said it was a direct swap however he wasn't very thorough in this review or report. He did say something about not hooking up servotronic however didn't clarify whether that was because he failed to hook it up or because it was incompatible.

I contacted him too. The 1M/M3 steering rack bolts right up. WE just need to confirm if servotronic works for those interested.

If you mean active steering so 1M doesn't have that option

From my understanding, servotronic and active steering are different.

Servotronic adjusts the level of electronic assistance in order to make turning the wheel at slower speeds more easy.

Active steering on the other hand actually adjusts the speed of the steering at higher speeds.

It is possible (I haven't checked) that the 1M/M3 has different servotronic parts due to the faster rack and requires more assistance than a stock rack.

If it doesn't bolt on, I personally believe that not having servotronic might be an acceptable sacrifice for the faster steering rack of the 1M/M3.

look at n54boost and e90 forums. this has been done. There is a small issue though with some connection, but its drivable and may already be solved - my knowledge is 5 months old

One guy on BabyBMW did the swap of the steering rack : he took the one of his E87 and put the M3 one directly. Completely plug'n'play IMO.

Yes
Except if you use the steering end links. The M ones need m3 arms to work ok. Otherwise you use nonM or myele.

I will add some links to this post of e90post and babyBmw

Do the pre LCI cars maybe have a slower steering rack than the later cars? The reason I ask is that my 2012 feels almost comically quick, especially when compared to my previous car which was a 540i. I don't remember the steering in my old 2008 being this quick, but I thought maybe it was just an adjustment period coming from the very slow steering 540.

I don't think the LCI changed the ratio of the rack. Maybe the Mfg is different or a lower miles and the steering wheel connection is fresher
