My guess is not half as humiliating as the factory M3's defeat dance.

Just curious, have you guys taken stats on the car after adding mods? (1/4 mile, dyno stats, 0-60, etc? ... I did see the skidpad results btw!). Thanks and I apologize if this information has been posted (I did not see it).
Thanks and continued good luck to you! |

en3rgie, one of the events was a quarter mile run, but other than that, they just barely finished the car and had to drive to Tirerack for orientation.

The M3 did a good job for a stock car - maybe next year in the hands of "a small outpost in the BMW universe" we can see how it really performs, because as we all know, stock cars are limited by tradeoffs in being livable, durable, etc. But for this year, BimmerWorld is happy to celebrate Year One of the 1 with a FIRST in class in One Lap! |

James, incredible driving yesterday (and the day before). Did you get a rest from driving today @ BeaveRun? How are Alex and Vic doing?

Thanks! The boys are doing well. Alex drove the Beaver today and I knocked out the auto-x at the end of the day. Really on the home stretch now...

The 1/4 mile event was rained out. There were supposed to be two times/events that day.. It got so bad, that they called the 2nd event.

This was from e90post.com and I quote
"So there's a slight dent in the M3 pride........ a 135i with under 10k in mods did some major butt whooping!" I love hearing this. Makes me smile. Nice job James! |

2008 Tire Rack
Cannonball One Lap of AmericaTM presented by Car and Driver Magazine The final spoiler result - we pull in the 1st in class trophy, and finish 13th overall. It is painful to know that without my Texas off we would have been 8th overall and the fastest BMW as well. I will have more of a summary later. For now, I am home (flew, sticking Vic with the responsibility of driving the car back) and I am headed to a long nights sleep! Long 9 days. Lots of miles and very little sleep. We beat the factory M3 and were first in class; 13th over all. Not bad for BMW's entry level car. Will post my thoughts after some sleep. Thanks to everyone on 1Addicts for all your support.
The One is a wonderful car. Alex |

Very impressive. Now how much did it cost? I am looking at the 128 as straightline speed is not my primary concern but I am interested in your suspension mods. How much was the LSD, coilovers, sways, bushings etc? I assume it was pretty heavily redone so it is a pure track car without the travel necessary for the street (unless you like having your filings knocked out?)
A complete breakdown on mods/prices would be helpful for those debating either modding or buying the car with the intention of modding. PS How did you fix the overheating? Larger intercooler and oil coolers? Special additive? All of the above? |

My suggestion is that you contact James at BimmerWorld directly. He can give you a price list for all of the parts that you are interested in putting on your car and offer suggestions as to the ones that best fit your needs. The overheating/limp mode was fixed by running a second oil cooler in series with the factory cooler. It is much larger and much cheaper than the one that Dinan sells. Also, the Dinan cooler requires that you remove the factory cooler. We found that using both worked better. Alex |
