Shift knob trim removal?

Anyone know how to remove the shift knobs trim? (The silver part) been trying to look everywhere. Can't find it.

I tried it on the 128i Sport knob when it got corroded.
Its not really possible. I think the key is a heat gun and pealing off the 6 speed label, only than can you undo the knob into separate parts.

My suggestion is the weighted ZHP knob from e46, F30, F20 owners. OR the dimpled leather Msport e90 e82 knob. They weight the same

It's actually the auto shifter. Lol sorry should have put that in there

look up e36 e46 e39 diy's on Leather wrapping knobs
