CF Fabric DIY Tips And Links

Okay so I recently made THIS thread in the photos section on my recently black CF fabric wrapped interior trim pieces and a lot of people have been asking me questions on it, there's something like this on E90 Post but nothing on here so I thought i'd make one for my fellow 1er owners that would like to do this modification themselves.

There's no official DIY thread for 1ers but there are some for 3ers and this thread REALLY helped me in the wrapping process:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=253665 (Includes all other DIY links)

This thread helped me on wrapping corners:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196996

And for you guys wondering if it is reversible the answer is YES!:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=180903

For taking apart the trim pieces i used these DIY's that Andy@LeatherZ made and interior trim tools that I borrowed from a friend that got them from eAs. They are exactly like the ones Andy is using in the DIY's and are VERY helpful so I recommend buying/using them.
Various Trim Pieces Removal
Remove E-Brake Boot

In order to take off the trim piece that surrounds the ash tray you have to take off the center console:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213833

I bought my fabric from Euro-Dyne, they are no longer active on this forum but you can still purchase it from them just give them a ring. PYSpeed is an active vendor on here and they also sell the fabric HERE.

The adhesive that most people use including me is 3M Super 77. When you buy this adhesive i would recommend buying the can that is black and red like in the link, i bought mine at Michaels (black and purple can). They are the same price but the black and red can is larger and that's always better right? I gave 3M a call about this and they said that the cans are different because they market the product to different consumers. I would also recommend picking up a roll of painters blue/masking tape to tape off anything you don't want to be sprayed with adhesive. It also helps with keeping things clean.

I hope this thread can help all you guys looking to do this yourself. this was the first time I ever wrapped fabric on anything so it was pretty intimidating at first and a little hard to jump into but when I finally got the guts to try this on my brand new BMW I found that it wasn't bad AT ALL. The only big tip I would recommend is TIME! Take your time on wrapping every piece and take it one section at a time. it took me a little less than a week to complete since I only wrapped about 1 trim piece a day and let them dry overnight before re-installing. When you're done all the time spent on it will be well worth the effort. GOOD LUCK!

It's the most satisfying mod I've done. Together with the BMW Perf. shifter, brake handle and booties it takes the interior to the next level. No making fun of my retro Razor cell.

Is it actually fabric or is it vinyl? Also when looking at the finished product does the the weave look like its all molded together or does it actually look like its woven? sorry for the fucktarded questions, these are all just serious concerns of mine.

It is fabric....it looks like....umm....it looks like it is woven if I understand you question correctly. If you happen to be near a sunglasses hut in the area go in and take a look at the Oakley Nanowire sunglasses (ask to see the case the glasses come in) the case is wrapped in the EXACT same fabric (I bought the fabric and wrapped my interior and when I did the fabric just felt so familiar...then a couple days later I looked at my sunglasses case and voila...same stuff).

I did mine today partially Everything went really well until I had to take out the ash tray and that whole piece. For the life of me I can not figure out how to get it out and I have checked out all the DIY's in this thread and a few others too. Someone please help!!! In every cloud there's a silver lining though. A few success pictures and the last one is specifically what I cant figure out if my description wasnt good enough. Thanks guys!
