A new 128i after just two years?

It is the last chance to order a new one exactly as you want it.

250lbs certainly makes a difference.

Yeah, it was kinda of dirty from all the winter road salt and I didn't feel like dropping the $10 to get it washed so I bought a new 2013. Actually, the dealer called me on Friday and offered me a great buy back deal so I took him up on it. I hate turbos (prefer superchargers) and I think this is the last opportunity to get a normally aspirated 1-Series with an inline six.

I ordered the Sapphire Black Metallic exterior, coral red interior with the six speed manual. My current 128 has the coral interior with Space Grey exterior. Unfortunately, I had to go with the black interior trim because the aluminum trim wasn't a option. I would have to take the "M" package to get the aluminum which meant I'd have to buy a set of all season tires and rims for winter. I hate changing snow tires.

i'd rather have two awesome sets of tires instead of one crappy set, but thats just me! I also hate my silver trim around my windows, wish it was shadowline or black. I'll probably do that myself eventually.

I used 3m vinyl for my chrome trim. Never looked back.
It took me like 3 hours to do it right. You should definitely go for it!

Couldn't agree more on the tires. SuperSports for the summer and Alpin PA3s for the winter.

Shadowline trim>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>chrome.

I'm thinking about plasti dipping it solely because of my experience with the product. Plus i think it'd look good and it would only take a few minutes per side + prep time.

3 vs 128i

128's filled with old people and women?? Are you kidding? The 3 series has become a "secretary's" car ... especially the 4 door. Ubiquitous and almost always an automatic. Perfect for vomiting to the hair salon. 5's are heavy and slow.
The 1 series is lighter, handles better and is more unique than the 3. My 128i gets great gas mileage, out performs 90% of other vehicles currently on the road and isn't victim of 135i turbo technology that is destined to fail sometime during the life of the vehicle.
128 rocks .. there are plenty of ways to tweak performance without sacrificing durability or efficiency.

God I hate myself for not plasti-dipping mine. I was sweating in my hot garage making it perfect

My 128i is built!!! I've been following its progress and figured I was fine with however long it would take, but of course now I am not. It's pretty exciting to be getting what I consider the last of the real bmws, custom built to my specifications.

I've never bought a car without driving it before now- but I've driven the latest 3, owned an e46 m3 and an e46 330ci and I know this thing is going to be perfect.

It's a stripper- no options except the m package. It'll get m3 suspension bushings, heavier springs, a giant rear sway bar and probably some konis almost immediately- maybe some headers and a tune if that can even happen for an n51 sulev engine.

Oh, if my favorite tires in the world are azenis rt-615- what'd you guys recommend that'll fit the stock m package wheels? Or should I get different wheels? Aesthetics don't matter. Fun does.

I am actually in the process of plasti-dipping my whole car matte black... it was black to begin with. and let me tell you.. plasti-dip has to be one of the neatest inventions. i'm not concerned about staining or anything because quite frankly.. my poor car could use a paint job (came from Calgary and has more rock chips in the hood than anything i've ever seen) the plasti-dip has settled nicely into all the chips and has a nice smooth surface. I'll be posting a picture when i'm done!

It's a great product! virtually no downsides, with the only possible one being how long it lasts. But given how cheap it is its very worth it. How was it spraying black over black? I wanna do white but dont know if spraying white onto white will be a chore or not.

It goes on super clean. When i'm finished i'll post a pic. Because its just a matte black over a gloss black it covers nicely. i would hate to do a white over black...it would take so many coats. even with just two coats the front end looks nice and even

I'm thinking about doing black over white, and then before next winter going back to white, but spraying matte white over the matte black. I'm going to order the dip kit soon so i have to decide. cant make up my mind between making a custom blue(cyanish), camo green, or matte black.

Is that grill removable? I'm thinking it'd look better without it. I've decided on just doing a clear matte dip coat to get the matte/frosted white i want.

Just installed the BMW Performance wheel V1 tonight(I found the last new one in the country). Seamless integration for the 128i. I now have single digit accurate oil and coolant temps! Shift lights are also completely kickass as well as the other features.

You would need to talk to Evolve about the tune for the SULEV N51 as they are the ones that pioneered deleting the secondary air pump, which you would need to do to do headers.

Stock MSport wheels are anchors, ditch them ASAP.
