v8 3 series
Anybody heard about putting a 5.7 Ltr v8 into an old 3 series (1988), my son is planning on doing it and reckons it will pass inspection he bought instructions from the US I'm not so sure, the engine is an alloy block v8 out of a Holden commodore, total weight gain over his straight 6 is only 40kg but the power will be tripled.

LS swaps are common for a lot of different builds. Huge potential for power, endless after market parts, indestructable. Definitely do-able. If your son does in fact do this, make sure to take some pictures! I love seeing builds like that.

I've even seen an LS swapped into a Miata...somewhat over the top, but likely akin to strapping yourself to a Saturn V rocket.
