Engine threw some codes...help

Should I worry? My cars warranty just ended back in March. Over the weekend while on the the 3rd lap at Road America my engine light went on and I lost massive amounts of power. I got off the track and let the car cool down...I was for sure that it was a HPFP issue. By the way, the car is completely stock except for exhaust. After a while I turned the car on again and all was working fine again. I just got back from a buddy's garage and he used his tool to discover I threw the following codes:

30FE - Turbocharger, charge-air pressure too high
3100 - Boost-pressure control, deactivation

So anyone else have this issue? Should I have BMW look at it? Any help is appreciated cause I'm sure the turbocharger is not a cheap fix..thanks!

Check the boost solenoids and all related hoses they've been know to crack and break every now and then, since your stock that'd be the first thing I'd look at.

So I mentioned this to a guy I know and he said he could "can smoke the vacuum system and boost lines to find any leaks..." Is this a good solution?

Yes, you will need to check your system for boost leaks. Could be anything from FMIC, intake, DVs, and charge pipe. I recall reading in the past on e90 a couple of members had their HPFP replaced and another had their turbos replaced.

sorry to hear that, as other said this could be a simple leak or you might need to do some expensive fixes out of warranty.

the N54 is a great engine but i will think twice of planning to keep it running hard after warranty.

Do you have any mods beside the PE?
