E92 press release delayed due to strong E46 sales

BMW AG are holding back the E92 press release due to still strong demand for E46 coupes - specially 320cd & 330cd diesel variants.

The E46 production ends in May 2006.
E92 production start in June 2006, first customer deliveries in September 2006.

Due to this fact, and due to Herr Goeschel's announcement they will present a N54 bi-turbo engine equipped car (335i coupe) till May, we can expect BMW to release the E92 PR in mid or late April not sooner.

PS: I guess we can expect the same case with new X5 (E70) & new MINI (R56), since demand for these vehicles is still strong despite being in last year of production.

Interesting.
This bit of news does have the potential to delay of the arrival of the 335 engine to America,
I would assume.

No launch delays, only PR is coming later than planned.

well, the e46 coupe is a handsome beast, not surprised that there is still a demand for the car. but couldn't bmw just stop production and get on with the e92 coupe. The automotive community is hungry for a piece of the e92 in the flesh!

The E46 production stops in May, then the production line will be fully set & modified to produce E92 - and the E92 production starts in June.

The e92 coupe will undoubtedly set the yardstick for the junior exec coupe again. would any one of u guys prefer a e92 coupe over the 6 series coupe? i think given a choice, i will upgrade to a 6 series with a complete m bodykit rather than the new 3 series coupe. the 6 series coupe is just more exotic.

oh good grief...I'm tired of all this BS. Not that I blame BMW of course. They're running a business and they're trying to maximize profitts, but it's just frustrating.

Thanks for the updates though Greg. Much appreciated!

Personally, I can't see how BMW is going to sell very many 6 Series cars after the E92 comes out. The E46 Coupe has more room inside when compared to it;;;you can just imagine how much the E92 will have. Then of course there'll be the new engine.....

simple the e63 is simply much higher up the market. People that have the money to buy a 6 series coupe wont be looking after a 3 series

and besides the 6 series account for the smallest amount of sales
