Who has actually driven a car with a N54

For those that have driven it, does the N54 rev to 7000rpm that the tacho indicates ? Peak power is at 5800rpm for this unit (N52 is 6600rpm) - so I am suprised that they have the same redline - does it do much over say 6000rpm ?
