So upset about my window tints
So I did my windows tints about a week ago and ever since my comfort access stopped working.
I can tell its not because of the type of tint used(i tried with windows up and down) but is because when they install the tints they spray a lot of water on the inside of the window which drips down the inside of the doors... I reckon the CA sensors or antennas got flooded and they barely work now... I read the CA issues and tints topics on the forum before I would certainly not do it! I wonder how much will be repair if possible...

wouldn't water potentially get in there from just regular washing and rain? Don't know much about it, but sounds kinda strange... Also, lots of people get tint (including myself) and have no issues -- I think.

False, the cheap one doesn't block the radio signals, the expensive premium ones that the s550s and those cars have may interfere with navigation, that's what my tint guy said. I got the regular ones and everything is fine. I don't know if its interfering with your comfort access but it might be the case i am not sure just my knowledge.

Metallic tint would block it!

I thought this was proven to be false. I think there are a bunch of people with metallic tints that don't have any problems and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the sensors are in the doors, so the tint shouldn't have an effect anyway.

Regular dye tint, worst of the worst. This will fade purple after some time. To prevent the purple fade there is metalic dye tint, it will keep its color but the metal will block radio reception, cell phone reception, radar detectors, etc. Metallic is more expensive than the regular dye. The most expensive kind is the ceramic tint, it does not fade and does not have the issues metalic dye has with the interference.

This has been discusses exhaustively, and the OP is correct, the tint is not what is causing it. If it was then with the windows down there would be no problem. It is much more likely that water got in there-which explains why some people without tint have this problem as well-the CA parts are not sealed from water well enough-a car wash or an excessive amount of rain could probably cause this too.

Guys read the post! No difference windows up or down!
No water could possibly get in side the door even if the window is fully open because you have those "black protective skirting" I ve seen the guys doing the tint job and they know how to do it but i just never thought that the water (which is a lot! and I mean 1 gallon or so per window drips down) would cause any damage to the sensors... which I also thought they are inside the car... But thats what I'm not sure where are the sensors located? if in the door handles than they should not be affected... it has to be some connectors located in between the external piece of bodywork and internal body parts. (somewhere where the door safety bars are located)

i think its the crappy electrical system that BMW has. Tint wise i agree with the people that said to roll down the windows to determine if its the tint that is blocking the signal. Water issue i wouldnt know, but highly unlikely.

Why do people refer to window tint in the plural sense, ie: Tints?

If the access feature not functioning completely, the chances are it is switched off in the computer
When the car is tinted, tint shop mechanics usually fiddle with BMW setup to trick windows into the "HIGH" position to tint the whole side. During that they inadvertently may switch on/off other sometimes vital functions I know, they switched off my auto wipers and auto headlights, idiots. Just see if you can disable then enable comfort access in the car. If that doesn't work, then i'm wrong Good luck

I've read numerous posts similar to this and agree that the electrical wiring inside the door gets wet due to the water that leaks from tint installation. Tint material is not to blame since windows are down.
I would try opening the trunk. Does it open as usual since the electrical wiring shouldn't have been touched?

Glad I read this thread. I was going to get my windows tinted soon, but if it causes problems with CA (read it before, just forgot; this was a good reminder), I won't take the risk.
OP, please keep us posted on the problem and eventual fix. Quote:

I got mine done with top of the line M3 ceramic 35% and haven't had a problem. My installer did mention that metallic would block electronic radiation.

Just got mine done with metallic tint, and the CA is definitely affected. It's too early to tell a pattern, but seems like when it's sunny it is affected more and works only about 6 out of 10 tries. At night it seems to work more, 9 out of 10 times. Doesn't matter windows up or down. (The frequency day vs night could just be by chance.) SO, I'd like to resurrect some more questions which have not been answered:
