Thanks mate.

Agreed, it definitely should be an option. A mate of mine just placed an order for a 135, and will be asking his dealer tomorrow if they can arrange for this to be included when his car is built. Other new car buyers should urge their sales rep to get this done, too, if they so wish. I'm sure it's possible.

Cozza, damn, you're a day late! I pick mine up in 12 hours, would have loved this option. Wonder why BMWA deleted it? I'll have a think about doing what you did though...

Especially as it is a no-cost option here. Personally I think I should get money back for deleting the smokers package but no-cost is the next best thing...

Although I don't smoke I need the socket to plug my radar detector in.

Have you considered hard wiring it?

Actually I hadn't but if I could get the power to run up to the rearview mirror area then I could mount the RD up high and I wouldn't have to remove it each time I park the car. (Some clown would probably break in and steal it).

Might check with dealer tomorrow. Maybe if they order the option code it can be factory fitted? Should be-

Might be worth checking out this thread if you haven't already: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...light=hardwire

Given the band of tint across the top of the windscreen (built into the glass), a "thieving clown" would most likely not even see it there.

The brushed alu is nice.

Cozza, that's a neat solution to a problem i'm also having with storage in the front unit, you've done a great job. Do you know if Bib Stillwell have any more in stock?

Not sure that it's an item they stock, but it only took a week to get it in once I ordered it. Give Rory Wale a call on 9521 2121.

If you end up getting one and want some tips on installing it, let me know.

Any of the guys in Perth interested in doing this together? Anyone a 'handyman'? I'm not, for sure. The biggest mod I've ever done was adding footwell lightning to the XR (the sockets where there already). I'll teach you how to use iDrive in return!

Nice work Corey - looks the business but not for me. Sorry Simon, I have no interest in pulling my console apart to put this in (already done this once to hard wire my radar detector in). I never keep much in the car anyway - more stuff to go flying around during "spirited" driving. Sunnies either live on my face or under the centre armrest.

You've set off the Perthite alarm!

It's an automagically RFIDish toll tag. Thank God we don't have toll roads in the west!

Keep it elsewhere. Cup holder perhaps? That's all it's any bloody good for; it certainly doesn't do the job it's supposed to do!

Any BMW dealer will be able to order it for you. Simply provide them with the part number listed in the initial post.

Shhhhhh......don't give the mongrels any ideas!!

Did you read about these new PODS (Parking Overstay Detection System) they are using in Vic? The detector is buried under the parking bay and sends a signal to the grey ghosts (dunno what you call them in the East) to come and book you if you go overtime! Worst thing is the supplier doesn't charge the councils for them as they get a kickback on the fines!!!! Apparently there has been nearly a 100% increase in fines in the areas where they have been installed.

Thanks for the offer but I think I'll pass on this one. Do they have an insert that has 2 cup holders - I'd be interested in that.

With iDrive I only have one holder and you're buggered if your drink is taller than a 375mL can.
