New windsheild?

My windshield is now fully cracked left to right so needs a replacement; is there any specific glass i should be asking for? my insurer is using giant glass to do the work.

I needed a replacement on my M3 last spring.. I ended up calling the dealer to arrange something because I was nervous about any electronics/sensors that might be attached to the windshield.. I set up an appointment with them and they called in some local company (forgot name) which did the work at the dealership... the new windshield came out perfect.. My dealership is Norwood BMW gallery if that helps..

I was real nervous because the car was brand new at the time and I've had many poor windshield replacements in the past.. but I couldn't be more happier with this one.

good luck,

Giant glass used oem sekurit glass, looks the same as new. I did have to go to them though as they dont like to do higher end windshields in the cold.

I am in the same boat, as I too need a new windshield. I am instisting on BMW glass and not some aftermarket brand.

The glass windshield doesn't cost all that much. Only 240 euros for the glass. But then you need a new rain senor and some trim pieces. That adds another hundred euros or so. And then the dealer wants another 400 euros for the install. Its unreal. I got two estimates: One for 700 euros and one for 1,000 euros - parts and labor AND taxes(some 19% over here!! Both are at BMW dealers in Germany.

I think in the states it would be cheaper... but then I got a private measage, saying he paid $1,400 USd for his 135i windshield at a dealer. So go figure. I think we have expensiive glass in our cars! lol

Well... I will have mine done in a few weeks, once winter is over and there are no more salt rocks on the roads/autobahns.

Good Luck

Yeah I was trying to hold out; giant told me there were three sets of glass for my car so needed the vin to get it right... I do have the rain sensor as I think it's standard on the 135.
