Shite. Possible HPFP issue.

2011 running MHD map 1, 93 and 91 maps. Using 93 gas most often.

2C01 - High fuel pressure, plausability; pressure too low.

Sometimes a slightly rough idle, often takes 8+ cranks to start.

I'll try flashing it back to stock to see just for kicks.

There are quite a few threads on this but is there an extended warranty or service bulletin on this? Info seems to be conflicted.

I have an auto x this weekend. Perhaps I HAD an auto x this weekend. :P

thanks and regards,

Jim

I'm sort of in the same boat. Definitely extra cranks to get started and my car feels low on power under 3k RPM. Also MHD 91 map with a berk Axle-Back.

I'll let you know if I have any information. Having my BMW "guy" look at it tomorrow.

Garage List
99% sure both cars' HPFP are failing. Long cranks and hesitation at WOT are telltale signs of HPFP failure.

Well, I didn't have hesitation at WOT in my case. Rough idle and long crank though. I cleared the codes a couple of times and put it back to stock. Still threw it into limp mode.

Went out this morning to take it to my BMW guy, everything was fine. I'll follow up if/when it happens again.

More info

So I flashed it back to stock, same result in the same amount of time.

Idle is rougher, and the call to the dealer asking for a guess / service history on the car and the service manager leaned more toward a coil pack. That has been the predominant issue over the N55 HPFP. Car does have 62k on it's probably due.

I'm going to take it to the BMW guy I know personally first Wednesday morning.

Awesome, I'll be going to my guy too. I'm actually not really bothered of its just coils and plugs, would be nice to have the motor like new again.

Mine turned out to be the HPFP. He wants to go with the one from the dealer at significant expen$e. But I would rather go with:

Does anyone have experience or concerns with this unit?

I'd go with FCP Euro:
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...mp-13517616170

Lifetime warranty if the new one ever fails and needs to be replaced.

This is what I'm going with if my issue ends up being the pump. Crazy how terrible these pumps are, people seem to say the n55 is less common but I seem to see them fairly frequently.

Yeah, it seems like the 2011 N55 pumps are almost as bad as the N54 ones, but not covered by the extended warranty

I've had a weird HPFP-related issue at a few autocross events that had me looking at a pump replacement, but I think I've figured out how to prevent it for now...
