Octane zero

Now I will demonstrate my ignorance of fuels. I called Murphy's gas hot line to inquire the octane level of their non-ethanal fuel. I was informed that it is zero because there is no ethanol in it. Is that correct? I thought all fuels had an octane level. All comments welcome.

I did not think the person I spoke to really had a good understanding about what I was asking her. I thought the octane level was about 87 or 89.
