The radio frequency that the sensors use to communicate with the car changed in 09/2010, so you need to use sensors that match the electronics in your car if you want tpms to work.
makes sense, thanks

I just switched my rears to Federal RS-Rs to try and get more traction, especially in a straight line. 225 40 18 fronts are $98, 255 35 18 rears are $126 + shipping. The traction of these is amazing in a straight line. Had Conti DWs prior to the Federal's and these grip tons better. Can't wait to see my 60ft times. Good in the rain too. Cruised back from Carlisle at 90 in heavy rain. If they last all season it's worth it. I just barely got 1 and a half seasons out of the Conti's that are twice the price.

Do they say "For Competition Use" anywhere on the sidewall?

Can't beat that price.

I'm getting RE71R mounted today to try and improve straight line traction.

No. They're a street tire. I've put about 2,000 miles on so far. I'll give a thorough review at the end of fall because I'm concerned about how long they'll last. I don't want to talk them up too much until I have more miles on them. MuNkY6913 has the 595's and I'm extremely impressed with their tread life.

Where does a guy get Federal skins? Some decent comments on them (esp for their price) on interweb boards here and there....

Garage List
Gave the Sumitomo HTRZ3 a try in a square setup, motivated by a lot of good write-ups on Tire Rack and other sites. Car is stored winters and not heavily used so can't comment on wear but ride and handling are excellent. A couple of light track sessions and a couple of AutoX events and not disappointed at all. Want to try a wet AutoX to see how they respond to a hard push in the rain but so far very happy, especially considering their price.
