Sorry to see Deeb go, but these sound like problems with Deeb that would have happened to any nice rwd car he bought.

wow, even with the exchange rate $1300 and $1400 is pretty high for tires, isn't it? Did one of those purchases include rims? You were definitely asking for trouble driving in snow with summer tires... that part wasn't bad luck.

January 2009 - Some starts get longer and harder.

May 2009 - HPFP finally fails

June 2009 - Wastegate actuator fails and gets replaced. Car still throws codes, so new software is downloaded from BMWNA. Car STILL throws codes, BMWNA says replace the turbos. Two are required. One arrives. No one knows when the other will arrive. Lacrosse starts cross shopping Cayman S and Carreras.

Here's a piece of advice:

MOVE the hell out of wherever you're living. It's beyond me why people put up with that kind of crime rate.

Ask yourself....Is it worth it?

You've basically lost about $4k to crime in the last year (I'm including some aggravation factor in that number because I'd be doing some heavy drinking if someone busted my window out). When all things are considered (parking, commuting, time, ect.) Does your job in the city pay that much more than something you could find in a smaller area with less crime?

I couldn't do it personally.

is there a reason why you spent $1,300 on tires? $325 per tire seems very steep for snows...

Not if you do the sensible thing and get rims and TPS at the same time. I think I paid about $1200 for cheap rims and decent tires.

Most? both of them were not my fault. I was sitting at lights and I got rear ended.

But wow that is a list that rivals mine. Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Man I dunno, being rear ended twice and losing your top all within 3 months is pretty bad! Horray for bad luck !!!

And for people wondering about me paying a lot for tires, they were $500 US + shipping + brokerage fees + tax + duty to cross boarder, I think it was a little under $1,100 after all was said and done, Canadian. So at the time $800ish US still quite a bit cheaper than ordering them up here.
