Won't Start

I took my 128i in to my local BMW dealer for an oil change and wash. I got lazy and left my AA tune in and did not revert back to stock like I typically would do.

After the oil change they went to wash the car and it would not start. They tried for an hour or so but could not get the car started.

They are going to work on it again on Monday.

Any ideas? Could this be due to the "foreign" AA ECU tune?

My car recently had to get warranty service because there was a leak in the tail light assembly gasket which allowed water into the trunk. Enough water went inside to ruin the battery and the control modules located in the trunk. So it might be worth checking the battery compartment and the trunk seal. Although, admittedly, there can be many reason to cause the car to not start.

There was a battery recall on the 2008 - 2012 1 series models that caused the car to not start up or to just turn off while driving. Have you taken it in for the recall? That can be the case.

I had this same problem last week. Tail light gasket had to be replaced, along with my comfort access module. The car would start for me, though. Just none of the CA features worked.

""ATTENTION""" if you are having this problem on your 1 or 3 series don't be lead to believe u have no choice but to replace the interior under dash fuse box along with the Main power cable to the battery!! Do to it melting from vibrations and a poor design that is held by a small plastic clip , In the last 2 weeks I have all ready had 3 e90s with this problem and I have rigged up a setup that will allow you to use your old fuse box and main cable for a fraction of the cost of a new one(($1200)) fuse box and cable from bmw
Message me for details if you are running into this problem , see attached photo from a bmw dealer
