135 dies after HPFP Replaced
My 135 completely died 300 miles after the recall work being done. Strong smell of fuel was in the cabin. Has this happened to anyone else?

I had mine done, I've put on roughly 300 miles since. No issues so far knock on wood... But that sucks hearing that....

The dealer tried to load software to fix my HPFP one time but within five miles of the dealership it went into limp mode. They did not even test drive my car after the software update since I note the mileage when I take it in. No fuel smell on three HPFP replacements.

I had 3 HPFP replacements on my 335i - 1st one was done with same model "defective" pump before new design came out; 2nd one was new pump but not installed properly by tech; 3rd replacement has been working great for over a year. Sometimes even BMW techs have a no-good, very bad day.

My car went for 12k with no HPFP issues at all then last month i took it to the dealer to recalibrate my passenger side Airbag sensor and they told me if i want to update the ECU to the new software that suppose to reduce HPFP failure and i said yes.. 3 days later my car went to limp mode when i was driving at I-75 80MPH @~6K RPM

I have heard of a few cases (on this site) where they did smell GAS in the cabin, after the HPFP replacement. As I remember the dealer didn’t put something back correctly, so it smelled like gas in the cabin.
Do a search, I’m sure that you can find it.

++1. YuP! I agree with the above.
OP - if I were you... I would have your car towed NOT DRIVEN back to your dealer. You most likely have a fuel leak and/or a bad HPFP. Better safe than sorry. Dackel |

Yeah apparently it was the monkey with the wrench's fault. Stay away from BMW Houston North off 1960. Fuel line was torn due to faulty installation of new HPFP along with an injector not properly installed causing the cylinder to flood with fuel. I'm lucky I wasn't hurt.Really surprised that the dealership told me this. Probably because they were complaining about another dealership.
