Motor Mounts

Has anyone had any luck replacing motor mounts to stop the serpentine belt from hitting the subframe? I'm thinking of replacing the right side with an IS mount and getting a new stock left mount. Any advice would be great.

I replaced mine w billet mounts when the twins went out. Would imagine the Is mounts would be a nice middle ground - billet mounts add substantial NVH particularly when the car is cold. Once it has heat in it it's barely noticeable but when cold you absolutely feel and hear it.

To your point though, yes plenty of people have done it for the E9x to alleviate the faulty OE mount. There are several DIYs available that should help you.

Super late response on my part, but thank you! New mounts are all in and holding so far!

I thought the motor mounts were only an issue for 1ers built before 04/2008.

Did you diagnose it 100% as the motor mounts?

Yea I thought that too, but I couldn't find any other reason other than the mounts why it was shredding. Then I found the spot on the sub-frame where it was making contact, but wasn't touching when the motor wasn't torquing. Figured motor mounts HAD to be bad. Pulled them both out, both were wiggly, pass side was REAL bad... Replaced, no more shredding. Win.

I figure they openly said that production year, but thats just the latest they've accepted on record. Its all the same stuff.

The dealership told me to eat it btw if anyone was wondering. So did BMW NA

Good to know. You went with the 335is mounts?

It's on my long list of things to do
