I placed my order on January 24th around lunchtime. On January 27th my salesman called to say that the Performance Center had emailed 3 dates for me to pick from and April 13th was the soonest. He emailed the Performance Center back and on January 31st I got an email confirmation from BMW and forms to fill out for the delivery there.
My car has yet to enter production. It is a week 7 build so in the next week or two it should get built. According to posts here and what my salesman could find out from BMWNA distribution, build time is about a week and then another week or so to get to the port. Then a varying wait of almost nothing to a couple weeks for a ship. I am East Coast so shipping is usually around 12-14 days to Charleston, SC. This means the Performance Center should get my car by mid to late March at the worst, giving them a few weeks of leeway to get the car there and prepped. I also discussed the possibility of taking delivery at my dealership since that seems to be available sooner. BMWNA distribution could NOT give a firm delivery date for that other than to say mid to late March. If you are doing a Performance Center delivery you should be able to get dates and all that right now and should have probably already done so. It sounded like the waiting list is long. I would bet mid to late April now if you were to ask for delivery there tomorrow. If you are doing a delivery at your dealer, then assuming that production ends on it this week, port next week, then anywhere from 2-4 weeks to the US and I imagine a port around NJ since you are in Ohio. Best case of say 4 weeks from now up to 6 weeks probably. Your salesman should be able to call BMWNA distribution and get an estimate that will be very rough, IE early March. |

Took about a week and a half from when it went into production until completion, which is supposed to be today. Hopefully yours will move that quickly.

Thkx all for the your info. All I can get from my local BMW delaer is something like, 'Better sooner than later, then being sorry.' I'm looking for a definate date not a guess-imate date.
Although I prefer the 2012 body style I've seen something else in 2013 write-ups. There have been a couple mentions there might possibly be a 6cyl Option offered in 2013's? Anyone else see that or have more info? Thkx...joe |
