service engine soon light when i press start engine once??

when i press the start engine button just once and not fully turn the car on all the icons appear then dissapear but the service engine light.. is this normal or is it something going on? maybe it might be staying on cause i need new headlights?? i dont think it was doing this before i took it in for the recall

It's not on when it's running? You're fine. All cars do this. Some go out after a few seconds, some stay on.

Do you know when your next service is due? I feel like I see mine stay on for a sec when I start the car. My next service is ddue in 7k.

I really don't know when the next service is due... I do know when after my light went out the numbers on the dash was going up for the countdown now the numbers going down after I got my car back from the recall :

Mine comes on when I press the Start button once, goes out after starting the car up. Completely normal.

I just started getting this light the other day. I have a JB4 and i cleared all codes and it still pops up.

If you have iDrive, check Vehicle Status/Check. That should give you more information.

NORMALLLLLLL >>>>>> just kidding, yes that is normal. The ECS is seeing that the there are a number of sensors that are not reporting correctly because the enigne is not started. The only time you should worry is when your engine is running and you get that indicator.

that is so strange. Why would they have the sensors start sensing before the engine is running? it is also odd that I have had this car for a few years and 3 days ago this started out of the blue.
