Dreaded "Reduced Engine Power" light

My 1M just turned over 34k miles, and the car is stock with the exception of an Active Autowerk's charge pipe and BOV. After being stranded twice on the road twice in three stock charge pipe failures I finally got smart and changed it.

Within the last 1,500 miles I've had all the plugs and coil packs replaced after the car completely lost power and went into limp mode.

Twice in the past few weeks I've had it throw the "Reduced Engine Power" light after some very aggressive acceleration and high-speed driving. After shutting off the car and restarting all is well again.

The HPFP has been replaced once, maybe 10-12k miles back. Is BMW covering these beyond the standard 4yr/50k warranty, as they have on some of the other models?

I don't have a tester tool to see if it threw any codes, but any guesses?

Can anyone recommend the best tester tool?

Thanks!

I'd like to know this as well.

I was going to buy a Cobb a couple of years ago to interface with the oil change schedules, dtc's, etc. But, I had no interest any any type of tuning or otherwise. So I didn't go with it.

I understand there is a cable to interface with a PC that you can buy for $200 that is VIN locked to one car for diagnostics.

Also, I saw the light one time, after a restart it was fine. The dealer did the knock sensors after diagnosis.

I've had a similar case with my 1M, I was able to read the codes with the Carly app and a normal wifi-obd reader. Turned out to be the HPFP

I would recommend getting their own adapter as the latest version of the app seems to work in fully only with that

I had the same message from a blown-off charge pipe.
