I get looks but rarely compliments. But today at the gas station while waiting in line for check out, a nice looking older lady asked me "is that your white car out front" I resond "yes", so the says in an enthusiastic tone, "that is a SUPER cool car! I love it!"

haha so do I...

From people who know nothing about BMW brilliance and hate to see you confident in purchasing a car that can be a sexi sleeper lol. Just an opinion.

One of my cousins said this to me about my car;

Cousin : This car is for an old person, people who play golf and settle down...

Me : Not really, i don't think an older gent. would drive a 300hp turbo coupe. I think they would go for a 5 or 7 series.

Cousin : Nah, they would go with any BMW. I'd rather go with an Mitsubishi EVO, way better performing car, looks sexier, and for younger people.

Me : Mitsubishi EVO's are sexy and are great performing cars, but way to common if your going to modify a car and i want to stand out from the crowd.

I could tell he was jealous. When he said all that, he had a sour attitude, with a pissed off face. My other cousin, who drives an MK6 GTi said "your 135i is so clean and would totally destroy an stock EVO / STi"!.

I love it when people suffering from ignorance actually think they're on the same page and right when you shove the facts in their face they cry over spoiled milk.

If I ever run into you or Tom K., I'd wave back! I rarely see 1ers in NoVa though, they're all 3's.

I see quite a few 1's the alexandria/springfield areas. Last week i was going down the road and 2 135's flew by me doing 75 in a 45 both in a hurry. All 3 of us turned off in different directions and neither one waved back at me

Well maybe I need to get out more then. I usually stick around the Fairfax, Vienna, Tysons area, as I live and work here.

Back on topic though, I've never really had any comments on my car at all in almost 2 years that I've had this thing; with the exception of my service advisor and a few folks at BMW giving me props on a clean 1er.

Maybe its just people in this area.

my roommate has a full on show winning car 350z and a 2002 530i daily. He is trying to sell them both to buy a 2010~ 335i and he always gives me shit. He says he respects the power and the nimbleness but he says the car looks goofy compared to the 335i coupe.

funny thing is in person i actually think the 335i coupe looks goofy compared to mine. here is mine parked next to my co workers for reference. i definitely like our back end more.

do you have any idea what his plate means? never asked him if it was random characters on a custom plate which is the cheaper option than a personalized message like mine.

Oh and I forgot to mention...my coworker w/ the 335i was trash talking my decision in a 1 over a 335i. he has a jb3 tune and was saying how bad he would pull me...we raced but I left out the fact that I had a jb4 and full bolt ons...the next day at work he seemed to be a lot more respectful :P

I have gotten that a few times. Its funny when strangers do it. A lot of people do buy into the 'asshole BMW owner stereotype' and it is sort of condescending how some people have approached me. I love e90's and still would love a e90 or e91 328i for a DD but at the time I wanted a smaller and lighter car and the 135i fit that perfectly.

I certainly would have to agree with you that the 1 looks a lot better than the 3. The tail lights on the 3 do not match up well. Also the 1 appears to have cleaner lines.

What is the STAR on the License plate? I could not come up with a good explanation of your specialty plate.

"GG NUB", Haha nice one! As for the 335i, it can stand for "M3 MFest 1 series", of course, i am probably wayyyyyyyyyyyyy off .

texas uses a vendor called myplates.com that pump out crap tons of custom plate designs for us to use, but they are expensive. if the star had to have a meaning i guess it would be reference to texas being the lone star state.

gg nub = GG NOOB = good game noob = something you would say after raping someone in a multiplayer game.(or after making someone eat your dust in the 1 )

in a competitive environment you would just say GG for good game so it's a bit of an insult when followed by nub or noob

Really gotten only two comments since I got the car in January.

1. Nice lady in parking lot asked why I bought a 1 series instead of a 3 series

2. And my personal high point since owning the car. Me out driving on a beautiful sunny carolina day, windows down, sunroof open. Stopped at a light and a attractive blonde (Female) pulled up next to me in a Lexus Convertable, top down (The cars, not hers), she looked over at me , smiled and said nice car, I love the red.
made my day. And of course my 128 is Crimson Red........

I sense a disturbance in the force...

As if tens of posts about Corvettes cried out and have suddenly gone silent

Only comment I've received about my car was before I took delivery. I was at a gas station filling up a 335d my dealership gave me as a loaner (because there was a delay in delivery on my 135i) and the guy in front of me was filling up his 350Z. I've always like Z cars so I complimented him. The conversation went something like this:

Me: Nice Z. I used to have a 280ZX and really liked it but the new Zs are a whole different animal.

Z owner: Thanks, but what you're driving is a truly great car.

Me: Oh, it's not mine, it's a loaner because there's been a delay in delivering the car I ordered.

Z owner: Oh? What did you get?

Me: A 135i.

Z owner (eyes going wide looking VERY impressed and really surprised): Reaallly?? How'd you do that?!

Me: Just walked into the dealership and ordered one.

Z owner: Wow.

I've only had the car for a few months now and don't drive it very much so haven't had a lot of opportunity to get comments, but I have caught a few envious stares.

Well the 135i I own my father bought just before his 95th birthday. That's right, 95.

He put 10K miles on it.

But then again, not your normal old man. He flew B29's in WWII.

I've not received any comments yet but have had a few other BMW owners drive like hell to try to catch up to me and check it out.

Not many 135i in my area.

Regards,

The twenty nine was an amazing aircraft. Tell your dad thanks for his service.
