Song downloads via USB?
2012 135i with Premium and Navigation packages, but without the HK Premium Sound package.
When I put a CD in the player, the system offers "Store songs" as an option. . When I plug my mp3 player into the USB port in the centre arm rest, this option is not listed. I can't figure out from the OEM manual whether it is possible to download music to the car's hard drive from the USB port. Does anyone known whether it can it be done? |

Sorry...I'm 99% sure of the answer, but I gotta ask a dumbass question anyway:
No iDrive/Nav means no audio "storage", correct? |

For downloading mp3 onto the hardrive you need to plug the USB stick into the port in the glovebox not the one under the armrest.

I was able to download music to the car's harddrive through the glove box USB port, but it wasn't simple. First, despite what the manual says on p 172, the system will not download from an mp3 player - or at least not my Sansa Zip Clip - only from a USB key. Second, to get the download menu to come up requires combining inputs from the iDrive wheel and the OPTIONS button beside the wheel on the console - I had been fruitlessly trying to find "OPTIONS" in the on-screen menu system. I loaded 7 GB - 860 songs - in about 20 mins. No more CD cases rattling around in the door pockets. |
