All of the bad N54 water pumps I've seen have been manufactured by Siemens/VDO (N52 being Pierburg). The replacement pumps have been Continental electronics.
Anyone replace a Continental pump yet? |

My mechanic was able to diagnose and make the the repair in about four hours! Water pump and thermostat were replaced! Two days later I get an alert about a right rear brake light malfunction..FML! Anybody have any idea how much this is going to cost me!!?

+1. When the tail light LED's go out... there is no bulb warning. You only get a warning for regular halogen bulbs. When one is out or about to go out. I would replace them in pairs. tail light bulbs are cheap. Buy good Philips or Osram bulbs. The bayonets are made better than what you can buy in Wally-World or the like.

I don't can you? Seriously... it is pretty easy. Just pull out your trunk carpet and pull out the tail light bulb tray. Them replace the bulb that is burnt out.
BUT... if no bulbs are out yet... you might want to wait until it burns out.

So it is the medial right brake light! I am going to have my car at BMW to have my winter wheels installed and the third brake light installed, so I may see if they would throw that in! Thanks guys for all of your feedback! Very helpful!
