Unhappy Slight tear on sidewall

So I went over a large pothole w/ sewer grate (thank you Canada - sniff ), and I noticed once I got to where I was going that the rim had some rash but there was also a slight tear in the sidewall on my Pilot Super Sports (front):

I will go to a tire shop next week and prepared to have the tire replaced, but just wanted a general opinion from the forum. These tires are about a year old with under 10,000km on them...

Thanks for the help!

Well, the law for an Ontario safety inspection says they are fine, unless you can see the chord inside.

Looks like the rim protector is only damaged. I would keep driving on it.

Did that a while back to mine. It's only the rim protector. You're good, unless the appearance bothers you so badly that you have to replace it.

Thank you all! Is it ok if I use some sort of glue (crazy glue) to keep the flap intact?

You good. I wouldn't worry about it.

I did the same thing last year. But did not fair as good as you. Ran over a bad pothole and had my passenger front and rear tires cut on the sidewall along with rashing my 313's. MPSS had 200 miles on them.. lol Replaced both tires and moved on...

Crazy/super glue is water soluble and generally doesn't do a great job adhering rubber. I'd just cut it off and try to forget about it.

Had a tire like this for a year and didn't encounter any problems. It's nothing like people above me said.

PSS is one fragile tire really... Went thru a set in 2 track days and some rough roads. Never again.

I've put mine through some rough shit, with a lowered car, stiff front springs and never a bubble or a problem with them.

I think that glue that they use for tire plugs/patches would be the best thing to use.

Did exactly the same thing on my driver's side front and rear. I imagine you can just leave it as is if moderate street driving is all they're going to see. I wanted to do some AutoXing and the odd track day and just don't like the idea of being on compromised tires. Replaced both and had the wheels refinished. Looks great now and no worries.
