Ok, thanks for the confirmation that LCI led's work on a halogen car.

To wrap this up. I have a 2008 bmw 123d coupe with halogen taillights. Will the blackline xenon/high tail lights for xenon fit the car- with no extra wireing?

You WANT the #282 Blackline kit. BMW p/n #63212225282

You get two blackline tails with the LED tubes that light up. They work on 128i and 135i US spec cars. For 125i(128i's outside the US) you will need to run a jumper wire. But for ALL US spec cars, they are totally PnP.

$284 plus shipping here... (you might have to pay a small US customs fee ?)

Thanks for the help Dack. I actually have a set of #282's for my own car, a Xenon/ADHL equipped 135i.

I accidentally purchased 63-21-2-225-381 and I'm trying to figure out what car these are supposed to be compatible with.

I'm starting to think it's only 2011+ 128i's wtih the LCI, but that are halogen not xenon?

The 63-21-2-225-381 are the non xenon Blackline's. They have the inner tube but there is no LED's inside. So when you turn the tails lights on... you only see ONE outer tail light bulb on.

Hey bud - you may want to check out this thread:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=925172&page=3

As Dackelone mentioned, there are two LCI style tails with tubes running through them. LCI for Xenon, and LCI for Halogen.

Halogen ones actually don't have the physically working lightable tubes (picture 2 in the post you referenced), they're just look-a-like structures in there that remain dark

If you want to run Xenon style (light up bars) LCI ... make sure you get those and you will need to do a slight wiring modification on a halogen car. I posted a pretty clean workaround for it in the most recent thread that I linked. Hope that helps!

I'm sure this has been asked a billion times but I can't find a straight forward answer. I have a 2013 Lci halogen taillights, if I buy the #63212225282 lights, will it work properly without any wire swaps?

As far as i remember if you want the LED bars to work properly you HAVE to get the Xenon blackline tail lights.

Now what i don't remember is on newer models if they simply plug and play. in my old 2010 i simply plugged them in and everything worked. Other members had to pin out something. I'm pretty sure its detailed in this thread somewhere if it doesnt plug and play for you.

Yes, the #282 is totally PnP for all US spec 135i and 1M's.

Its only on 128i with halogen headlights that you need to use a jumper wire to make the LED tubes work. IF your car has xenons... the #282 kit works(PnP).

I think it depends on whether or not you have a FR3 footwell module. I thought on early(up to '09's) 128i's(w/halogens) needed the jumper wire.

Even if you do... a jumper wire isn't that hard to wire up. The Blackline are so worth it. Totally transform the 1er's.

Chiming in with some anecdotal experience -

For the US market, the late model halogen 128's are the oddball and have unique tails lights/wiring.

When I was researching the swap for my car (halogen '11 128i), I found the xenon tail lights will function for all cars (xenon and non) except the later 128's. The late model halogen tails ONLY work on those vehicles originally equipped, they will not work on other cars regardless if they're xenon vs. halogen without wiring modification.

This proves true in my experience. If I recall correctly my 2010 128i was a 9/09 build date and it came as a halogen equipped car; however the xenon blacklines were completely plug and play with it. No jumper wire necessary.

I bet the 2011+ started the wiring change however I cannot verify that with certainty.

I have a 2012 128i with Halogen Headlights. I have read through every forum in regard to the Tail Lights. My Taillights, the LED line does not turn on. I've read that you can jump a wire b/c the Halogen models didn't come with the wiring. I have no clue what kind of taillights I have, being Halogen or Xenon, & I do not know if it is even possible to do this wiring job. I would appreciate anyone who would help me out as this is driving me crazy

When you open the trunk... look at the black section of the tail lights. There you will find the BMW part number. Then you can use RealOEM.com to figure out which lights you have.

stock pre lci tail lights... note the writing on the black section...

Blacklines are dark tinted lights... only available in Europe.
You probably just have stock LCI tail lights.
