Hi all

The small "add on" people have placed on the hood switch where was that found. Link would be great, as I would like to add that knob with out having a big brick glued on the hood to accommodate the missing connection between switch and the hood.

Thanks for your help!

cable trays

Sorry for continuing a very old thread. I think the folks that did this would like to know of the cable tray parts.

This may be already known info. I scanned through the pictures and read the early dialogue and didn't see it. I bought 2 parts that nicely house the cables coming across the cowl. See the 3 pictures. You can't buy them in North America though. I bought them from Schmeidmann in Denmark. They ordered them from Germany. Took a week to ship from Germany to Denmark and then another 5 days or so to arrive in Houston. Really finished out the project nicely. About $60 total to my door.
part numbers:
12-52-7-838-732 cover
12-52-7-838-733 lower tray

These bolt to the cowl along the front edge. Enjoy the pics

Get it from Schmiedmann, so much cheaper. I've just ordered the bits now for my 1M

The left & right upper covers are killer. Try get them used as you need to modify them anyway for the washer nozzles.

Or use the mini washer nozzles. I have a pair unused.

I think you will need R56 washer nozzles. Also you will need to rig something to have the hood sensor to work properly or do a BS job of locking it in place permanently (tape it up so it is always "closed" or whatever)

Yes, I cut the section. Swapped and welded it back on inverted. Used some offcut flat pieces to seal up the sides. Not completely done yet. Finishing touch would be a little filler, sand then hit it all with paint.

It looks like you have to break out the tabs on the cowl pieces to slide the cable tray on and bolt it. My issue is that the cables are too short to fit.

How did you get your cables to fit?...mine appear to all be too short to go through the cable tray.

An engineer always finds away to keep functionality. I installed a cork on lower side of my hood. Super glue. I did have to grind it down to ~7/8" height, I recall.

I spent $276 back in Fall 2015. This included the M3 OE charcoal filters. They were $95 back then and are cheaper these days ~ $65. I went to same supplier that I got all for $276 and they show $717 now.

I hadn't checked the schmiedmann approach for the other parts. I used them for the cable tray pieces though.

schmiedmann couldn't source any of the parts other than the cable tray pieces for me. Ended up a getting the rest used from a for sale post in this forum.

Do you have more pics of your N55 with the M3 cowl? im thinking to do the same on my 335i e92, but I don't know if it's worth the price: around 200€..

You can also just simply code off the hood latch sensor.

Hello everyone - reviving an old thread! I am trying to do the M3 cowl conversion on my 2009 135i convertible and I have all of the pieces EXCEPT for the mini washer nozzles. Does anyone have access to the pictures that GAP posted in post 59? It seems the pictures are no longer available but I'm trying to figure out the details on what I need to do to mod the wiring harness to work etc.
