V710's Ordered!
Hey all,
I ordered some 18' V710's in Storm Grey from jlevisstreetwerks.com. My car is AW so I hope it looks alright. Love the texture black but I thought i would go a little risque and get a wheel color I haven't seen on a E82. I'll get a professional photoshoot posted when I get them mounted! __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _ V710 Storm Grey Teaser Hey 1addicts, The V710s are mounted and look great in STORM GREY. JLeviSW ran out of Hankook V12s so I went with Kumho ECSTA XS's. They are a tad pricier but I couldn't be happier as the ride is smooth and these things grip like crazy. These wheels fit perfect on stock suspension. The pot holes here are craters and I hit some bumps going at 60MPH with absolutely no rubbing what so ever! Tire Sizing: 225/40 Front 245/35 Rear Wheel Sizing: 18 X 8.5 Front 18 X 9.5 Rear __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _ **NEW PICTURES** Here are some Pics that I took after work. Not the best photography buy my photographer is too busy at the moment. I'd like to drop it but the roads here are horrendous! Feel: Lighter and much stickier with new rubber. The ride is a lot better without RFTs. I carry a compressor and slime just in case though. The ECSTA XS's are very linear in the turn in and are very predictable when they break traction. Grip is HUGE, much better lateral G than the RE050s. Road noise has gone up slightly as the surface area of the contact patch as increased over the RE050's. Its barely noticable though. Fit:The fit of these wheels are excellent. I believe a 255 rear is possible but the 225/245 ratio corrects the understeer of the car a bit and makes the car feel more neutral in the corners. The tires are no more stretched than what the runflats were. In this case the slight stretch works in your favor if you drive on bad roads or have unrolled fenders. 8.5 fronts and 9.5 rears fit like a glove! I got the 18's because I thought the 19s make the brakes look too small and they are lighter as well. Rotational weight really matters and once these wheels are on you can really feel the diff the VMRs and the stock wheels. Finish: I've heard VMR painted finishes are sub-par so I forked a little extra for the powder coat. What can I say... the quality is excellent! and much better than I expected. If you get these wheels please do your self a favor and get the powder coat. Storm Grey is a beautiful color and has more of a blue hue then regular Gun Metal. The way I could describe the color is a darker shade of dolphin grey metallic. See pics! ENJOY! Last edited by oner; 05-12-2010 at 09:50 PM.. |

You're the second person to mention "Storm Grey"! Do you mean Gun Metal perhaps?
http://www.velocitymotoring.com/v710..._finishes.html I also have a white 135i and I'm trying to decide between these and the Breytons. Posting pics would definitely help me. Subscribed!

"Tex Black"? Man I'm going bonkers here. Is there some secret line of VMR v710's I don't know about?

indeed with a 48 offset in gunmetal and i would buy them tomorrow...i am down for the 710 but not ready to buy tires yet and i agree..a 8" rim would be better in the front and fit 225x40's perfectly. Not a big fan of stretched tires and on aggressive rims like the 710's r 225's would look perfect and the stock 215's could also be used with "less" stretching...the stockers on a 8.5 'rim is just too stretched.

Once I get these wheels on i'm going to do a full review. Qualityof rim, Powder coat quality, Rubbing issues (if any), feel of the Hankook V12's etc. I'll try and get some high res photos of the storm grey as well. Its been hard to find any pictures of this color so I'll post some for everyone to see.
Nick at JleviSW was a great help and answered all my questions regarding these wheels. They have the best prices as well and excellent customer service! |
