I had to the first time. Evan and Jason are great to deal with. Once you've done it once and they know that you are legit you're fine.

Better than **********s - they make you pay by Western Union Wire Transfer - that's so unsafe that there's warnings all over the internet about it...

Nope. Was as simple as:

- Create an account
- Purchase and pay
- Wait for my goodies to arrive!!

They even shipped to my shipping address (work) and not my billing address (home) which was good given it was my first purchase!

Super impressive.

No need for copies of cards etc.

I have ordered my BMW Perf Suspension, sway bars and a number of other things from them over the months. Very professional, great service & can't be beaten on price usually.

USPS is the let down as can wait up to 5 weeks. The larger packages actually tend to arrive more quickly within 10 days. They do offer UPS, but just far too expensive on larger items.
They want me to send them copies of my ID and CC. Not only a hassle but I'm not keen to be sending them those kinds of documents via email. Might send them another email

My PE from Dan@United was shipped via FedEx @ US$275. I ordered it on a Friday (local time) and I received it 8 days later. Was going to be USPS, but the PE box was too big for them and Dan would have to re-pack into two boxes.

I have driven the C63 and jumped straight back into my car and thought mine was louder! Btw, I have AR dp's.

In terms of volume, I would say the AA is an 8.5/10 and the PE is 6.0/10. Everyone says they can hear me minutes away and I didn't believe it until I spoke to someone on the phone and they said they could here me each time I would go WOT - and this was when I was a few minutes away! Also, I tend to set off a few sensitive car alarms from time to time - usually in undercover car spaces. The cold starts make the walls shake.

Both exhausts will drone. I think the AA is about 6.5/10 and the PE is 3.0/10. I recently drove to Sydney and back and I survived, but if you do a lot of highway driving the AA probably isn't for you, unless you like the music loud. Like any mod, you get used to it so i find the drone non-existent unless I'm hungover or have a headache, which isn't very often. But if you sit in the car for the first time you will notice the drone straight away and probably wonder why I did such a mod until I plant my foot or play with my paddle shifters.

I find the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and if there's ever a time to have a loud exhaust it's now whilst I'm relatively young. I know I'll want something a lot more civilised and sleeper in the future but for now I don't mind the volume from this straight 6 twin turbo!

You have made me want to buy one.... Fitting shouldn't be much more than around $150?

When I decide to sell the car, is it as easy as a quick changeover again for $150?

How much did you pay for yours? I am looking at around $660-695 USD.

By the way, why is there such a huge price variance between these 2 products if they're the same thing?

Unlike the Performance Exhaust it's completely bolt on, so it can be removed and installed easily, even at home. I took mine to a workshop and they charged me $50. However, I've heard others being charged $20-$30.

The PE requires the cutting of midpipes and welding of the exhaust so it requires modification of the exhaust. It's also harder to return to stock. Any exhaust workshop should be able to install a PE though.

Should point out that the AA Signature Exhaust apparently doesn't fit 2010+ Models...

Seems a few PE owners, just fit the muffler portion of the PE kit, not the mid-pipe as they want to retain the stock resinator to reduce possible drone.
I'd replace the whole lot. Less weight

I'm not sure if that's right, should be the same.. I know there is N55's running the AA.

Not sure but on JLevi's site: http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/1-Se...duct_info.html

This:

Quote:
Full 304 Stainless Steel with high-polish finish
3.5" tubing with mandrel bends for optimal flow
Noise Cancellation chamber reduces noise and drone
Dual 80mm Active Autowerke Exhaust Tips are staggered for ideal aesthetics
Light weight
Uses all factory mounting points and hardware
Fully adjustable to fit with any rear bumper or diffuser
Easy and simple installation, no modification required
FITMENT FOR MODELS UP TO 2009 ONLY!!!
It doesn't say that on the AA site though: http://store.activeautowerke.com/act...haust-p18.aspx

But the blurb only mentions "Twin Turbos" so I don't think it's been updated in a while...

Here's the install instructions: http://activeautowerke.com/pdf/Product97.pdf

I haven't looked under my car so I couldn't tell you what's different but the pics in here look like an N54 - midpipe cats - but that doesn't mean it wouldn't fit an N55... Maybe it's just not a direct bolt-on?

Midpipes has nothing to do with an axel back exhaust on our cars. Every aftermarket exhaust so far has been bolt-on except for the PE. Bolt-on is the preferred choice because it lives up to its name and is very easy to install (literally a few minutes). And it can easily be returned back to stock if needed without any trace of having an exhaust fitted in the first place. There is simply no need for cutting and welding.

The N54 secondary cats are located much further up the midpipes and are irrelevant. The PE requires cutting for the N54 and N55 as they both have a resonator located just before the axel back.

Any videos or sound clips of the PE on the N55? I already get quite a deep exhaust note and a nice burble so don't want something that's going to make it too much louder (hence the consideration for the PE).

Price-wise, considering it's OEM, seems palatable...

Try searching on youtube. There's plenty of video clips. In my opinion, no video can truly capture the sound an exhaust makes but you get a fairly good idea.
