E93 Sway bar installed - Wow what a difference!

E92/Coupe M3 uses a (26.5mm) M3 Front sway bar, the E93/Convertible M3 has a stiffer one (28mm). In this thread it seems the advice is to balance your suspension.

No, the convertibles (E93) have a slightly larger bar than the coupes/sedans (E92/E90). So you can choose which one you want for the 1 series.

It really depends on your exact setup and the result you are looking for. Some suspension setups requires no additional bar(s) at all.

I am planning to use a hybrid setup, that is using up-rated shocks (Bilstein HD) and stock springs. I am thinking on the E93 M3 Bar. will that be anygood?

E93 bar or larger aftermarket bar will work in your case.

Installed my E93 M3 front swaybar and noticed absolutely NO improvement in handling.....and that was in conjunction with H&R Performance coilovers.

Did you do the bushing kit as well? The M3 ones are different did you reuse the old? I find there is much less roll and tighter steering.

I didn't notice much of a difference either until I went with 1in wider rims with 225/255's. Then as soon as I installed aftermarket suspension I was impressed. I came from an Evo 8 with coilovers though.

Agreed. I think wider aftermarket wheels + a good set of non-RFTs will help much more in terms of handling.

I've always read the opposite.. Not too stiff for stock but stiffer works with stiffer

So would the e93 front sway bar work best for my setup? I have KW V1 coilovers with progressive spring rates. I am mostly street with occasional autocross/track. I also plan on putting in a LSD and M3 rear subframe bushings at the same time.

I went with e92 instead just because of some of the stuff I read about e93 causing too much understeer. I like it although haven't done autoX yet.

Would like to hear your thoughts if you go with the stiffer bar...

I went with front and rear m3 bars, e93 front, but I also did LSD (and front m3 bits and rear toe arms and BMW PS springs/struts). Had it a few months, LOVE it. Car is very balanced, LOTS of fun, no real negative impacts.

I changed they front bar also, but I am still debating if I should change the bushings.

The M3 front bits really firm up/make-heavy the front end and steering feel. The rear bushings/guide rods/wishbones tie together the firmness of the rear end with front end well. The car feels much much better to drive with those those bits installed.

Maybe it's me, but I still feel the car lacks a more planted feel. Then again, it could just be my experience with other cars.
