Is his normal for a Koni Yellow?

Let me first start off saying I am no suspension expert so excuse my ignorance on this topic. I had Koni Yellow's on my 135 for about 18 months and took them off this weekend because I was not satisfied with my ride quality. After removing the struts, I compressed the strut at the softest setting and they were very slow to decompress at one point one strut only makes it half way. Is that normal for a strut? I have a YouTube video of it below

When you have two identical dampers (even if side dependent) that operate in a range of motion different than one another, there is a problem. This also takes into consideration the damping is set exactly to the same number/clicks.

If you were the original purchaser of these dampers, Koni should honor their lifetime warranty. You will need to send these into Koni to have them tested and if proved they are out of the normal operating range, they should replace them.

My assumption is there is an internal pressure difference and one of the internal valves is faulty in the first damper causing it to not fully return to original height. I couldn't tell from the video but was there a trace of oil leaking from the damper?

I am the original purchaser/owner. There was not any oil leaking. Yes, I will get ahold of Koni. Thanks for the reply.

If you get in contact with a representative from Koni, see if you can send them that video. It might be enough evidence for them to send you a new damper.

Best of luck and make sure to let us know how this turns out, as feedback is important to all of us here on the forums.

Mine did a similar thing when they were new. One would stop unless I gave it a little bump. Sounds like it is pretty common from experiences in the e90 thread and its just seals breaking in. I just tried to set them at equal turns. Not sure about yours since they obviously had time to break in.

Let us know what Koni says...id like to know if mine were broken from the beginning.
