Very true... but be carefull of truE R-Comps... they give you driving muscles that you may not be prepared for. MY .02

I started TT'ing ( Time trialing = HPDE w/o instructor) last year and havent looked back. I have auto-x'd for years and knew the tire wear issues espically with RFT's.( in my case) I made a point to get some decent combo-tire/wheel package to fulfil my track and auto x needs.

Im running a square set up of Hankoor Rs3's ( 140 treadwear... borderline Rcomp, but DOT legal and doesnt put you out of class normally) 225-45-17's on 7.5" elbrus wheels... this way i can rotate after each event to help combat the outer edge wear issue, and i flipped this year to get max miles out of them.. The wheels also double duty as my winter wheels so although it was a compromise all around it ended up satisfying my needs and desires without breaking the bank.

so far i have over 15 auto x's and 4 track days( read over 250 track miles) on the tires and they are fine.. in fact, great..

careful, R-comps are so sticky they help cover up bad driving habits. Personally, I want my tires to communicate early.
