Cooling and the shields under engine?
Does anyone know if removing theses shields help with under hood heat and overall engine cooling?

I am sure it would help with cooling but they serve a more important use of creating a more efficient drag coefficient all the while protecting the bottom of that engine bay. Hence the world shield.
If you remove your under hood shield. May I have it? Mine has a fist size hole from last years winter.

Leave them on, they're there for a reason.

My understanding is that the under tray is designed to produce a low pressure area underneath the car by allowing the air to maintain or even increase its velocity. This produces a "vacuum effect" under the car that pulls air from the engine bay as the air under the car races past the back of the under tray. There's also empirical evidence of Miatas overheating when the under tray is removed.

The tray keeps negative pressure in the engine bay, drawing air in from the front bumper through the radiator.
You will reduce cooling efficiency by removing the under tray. Same is true for the upper cowl that holds the cabin air filter. I really don't recommend removing it.
