BM Wise in Artarmon for servicing?
Has anyone heard of these guys or had their car serviced by them? Did a google search without many results, but the couple of things I found were good reviews.
I have a fairly major service coming up in September and will be out of warranty by then so I was wondering if I should try them or just stick with BMW. |

Advan is definitely the place to go.
Peter hooked up the new Autologic servicing computer to my car yesterday and also did a full service on a mate's E36. Great job and definitely recommended. On another note, that Autologic computer is nothing short of amazing. From reading up on it, it provides EXACTLY the same procedures plus the ability to tune that all BMW dealers have. It is also connected to BMWs software system so all software updates to our cars are available the minute they are available to the dealers. In other words, best of both worlds! Same mechanical service that BMW provide, but none of the stealership pricing. |

back on the topic of the peeps in artarmon op, just go and try them out and let us all know how you go, after all whats the worst that could happen. I am sure the other two are good but they are a long way from artarmon.

I have been to BMwise about 12months ago for and end of warranty inspection, and they also did the CDV-delete on my 3 series. They are a small shop, but were helpful, friendly and not expensive. I had no issues in dealing with them at all.

yeah it's oil, spark plugs, brake fluid, possibly pads, i guess the only real 'major' part is the price. BMW quoted approx $800 (not including brake pads).

Thanks guys I will check out Advan and ALS too... they sound like much more sophisticated operations, but BMWise caught my attention due to convenience of location.

There are a range of tunes available through the Autologic system. I took a picture of the tunes available to the one series, so may post it up for you guys to have a look at. Might be good for Pete to jump in here and explain the Autologic system in a bit more detail if it helps? |

Try Peter Mabey BMW Car Care in Crows Nest. Been doing BMW's for decades. Has all the equipment, and the knowledge to go with it. I've used him over the years and only ever had good experiences. That said, i haven't used them for a while as I get free services on the last few BMW's I've owned

Advan Performance is great but it is a long way from the real world. Try the local place for something small like an oil change and let us know.

Yeh I thought that was the name of the place, I work up the street from there and pass it every day. Might be ok for minor service, but don't go looking there for mods. I drove in one day and asked about installing a set of AR DP's and the boss looked at me like I was from Mars and said 'what'

Greg at PeterMabey is the kind of mechanic who is conservative and frowns at most mods unless they are from reputable tuning specialists. From my experience dealing with him, he knows his stuff and he is definitely passionate about BMW. If you want him to get excited about modding your car, you'd better be inquiring about AC Schnitzer or Alpina otherwise that face you saw is all you're ever going to get. On the other hand, if you want your car to be serviced exactly as per the handbook but not handled by amateur apprentice hired by the dealerships then Greg is definitely worth considering. My 2 cents... |
