Got the car a few days ago

Ok so let me say this is awesome! You guys already know how fast it is and how well it handles so I'll skip over that. I'll just go into my experience.

First, the 135i is great looking and just in a league of its own. I don't know why people complain about the price, for the money you are spending, you are getting a a very fast, reliable, well handling, and good looking BMW.

Second, I live in southern NH and drove down to Mass yesterday. Amazing how many people were turning their heads to look at the car. I felt like I was a movie star or something, lol. I took my nephew out and being almost 14, he loved the car. I have gotten nothing but compliments.

I will say I have not punched it yet once. I don't think I have shifted much past 4 grand yet. I have been varying how much throttle I give it, but no WOT. I want to break this baby in nice, I spent alot of money and I'm only 24, so I feel that the car should be well taken care of from day 1.

As for the color, I got silver with red interior. I got navigation, ipod, premium, sport and heated seats. I will say I am glad I got all those options. I questioned myself for not getting CA at first, but I do not care at all. Also the stock sound system, I think is great. The navigation, I love, and do not think it is bad at all. It does its job right for me. I used it a few times yesterday.

I went to go see speed racer yesterday, and after the movie, it made you want to go out and drive! I will admit though I have resisted redlining but have not resisted keeping it in a high gear and going faster. Without even trying I got to about 110, and I thought I was no where near that fast, even my nephew was surprised. This car is a rock.

As far as being young and getting this car. I can see how being young people would want to go around and race this car. My advice is to be smart. I am 24 and trust me, I would love going around racing but it is not worth the risk. So please all you young kids getting this car, be responsible with this car, it isn't a fast car, it is very fast. Anything that can accomplish 0-60 under 5 and a the quarter in the high 12's to low 13's is very fast. So with that said be careful. I thought I throw that in their, coming from a young guy to others young guys.

Anyways if anyone has any questions feel free to ask. Also I would love to go to some meets in the area and actually see some fellow 1 owners. I have only seen one other then me and it was a black 128i.

Good on you for the responsible conclusion in your post. I worry about young guys in powerful machines, too many of them get into trouble.

Congrats
That color combo sounds fantastic.............Pics please. As you know they are REQUIRED on this forum
The more you drive it, the more you will love it.
And as far as the speed thing...I'm still young (58) and worry about keeping the reigns pulled in on this monster.

You forgot to tell all the old timers to take it easy too. Some of them drive pretty poorly.

Ok, let me get this clear in my head, cause I'm having a little trouble understanding this. I can be a little slow sometimes, so bear with me...

You are giving safe-driving advise to the other young guys out there... right?

And you are warning them to be (in your own words) "smart", "responsible", and "careful" with this car... right?

Yet, you just went 110 MPH, and you pointed out that so far, for now, you have been going real easy on the car?

And... you went 110 MPH while your nephew was in the car with you?

Nothing personal here, but it kind of sounds to me like you might need to take some of your own advice!!... ya think??

---------------

BTW, Chris... The car IS awesome... I just want you to be careful yourself, and enjoy it for many years. You're only 24! Lucky dog. Congrats on the car, Chris!!

Congrats Chris! WOW 24 and driving a small rocket, sweet. When I was 24 I was driving a 1983 Firebird S/E WS6. With suspension upgrades. It handled like a Ferrari but was slow.

My first car @ 17 was a 1971 LT1 Chevelle, 375hp muncie m-22 rockcrusher.

I'm 21 and ordered my 128i. Week 22 Build. I'm starting to wonder if I should of done the 135i but I would get in trouble with a car THAT fast. Plus I wouldn't of been able to do a lot of the options I did with the 135i I had to keep my total price under $40k with my negative equity.

this nephew drive sounds familiar:biggrin:

I am no longer allowed to ride in my uncle's porche boxster with him due to the fact we went 110 mph. My brother, after his seperate ride, had to come back into the house screaming "Mommy, guess how fast we went!" I tried to get him to shut up, but too late...

Guess I'll have to repay him the favor with my 135i

Congratulations! I was about your age when I bought my Audi TT (age 23, my first car) and somehow I resisted the temptation to not get too many speeding tickets. I live near Boston but I travel up to NH quite frequently and I have yet to see a 1-series on the road.

I'm planning on organizing (or at least participate in) some sort of get-together for 1-series owners this summer. Keep an eye out on the New England regional boards.

Negative equity - meaning you owe more on your current car than your current car is worth? And you are tacking that amount to the loan for the new car?

At 24 my car was a Peugeot 106 and I couldn't take it over 80 Km/h or the oil temperature would rise over the limit.....still it helped me a lot learning to change gears to be able to overtake.

Maybe Enzo's first attempt at producing a car. Certainly no 1983 Ferrari...
