Well done to your wife for avoiding an accident! In Australia we have to watch out for kangaroos, not deer. They're extremely unpredictable and can jump in any direction - stupid things! I've had a few near misses and just hope that I continue to miss them when I pick up my 1.

Glad you're ok!

I am happy that you are okay, and that it was in the Corolla and not the 1. But I understand your frustration, but that is not ground for killing more deers. you have to understand that the dear was in its natural habitat and we came in and build around it. We built with no care about the land they live in. Getting a hunting license and killing the deers for no reason is not right IMO. I have always been against game hunting. If you are not doing it out of neccesity please reconsider. Killing more deers wont fix what happened to your car.

I'm glad your accident didn't turn into a multicar for the Beemer- one of the first things i was told when I bought a Porsche was watch out behind you when you brake- you will always outperform the average vehicle.
funny you say that cuz i've been rear-ended twice due to my quick stopping BMW's

Glad you, your wife and the 1er are all okay. As has been stated a few times, it's not the deer's fault so it's really not fair to blame it much less take out a few of it's cousins because of your frustrations. They don't know to look for crosswalks lol. It's too bad it died. It's also too bad about the damage to the car, but the good news is it's only a Corolla

Sorry for the late response....I read this at work yesterday but didn't want to get caught on this site while being paid for doing something else.

ANYWAY..........Everyone's said this in many ways already but.......Very glad that you and your lovely wife are OK and that your new 1er is also OK.

Has anyone used or had any experience with Deer Whistles that mount on the front of the car. They're small and ugly, but do they really work?

No, they don't work. Watched a report on Dateline about the deer vs car problem, and they definitely don't work. Their evidence consisted of a police cruiser cam catching the whole accident and those little things were on his car.

Also, to the posters deriding deer hunting, I do have to point out one thing. I should say up front that I've never hunted in my life, nor will I probably ever. That being said, there is one important factor you are leaving out of the deer problem - they no longer have natural predators in most areas. Therefore, the deer populations are uncontrolled, and in most areas, hunting is the only means of population control.

LOL now that make me laugh, last year me and my lovely girl went out one night to some strip place, on the way back she hit a deer on a corolla S same color as yours LOL, thank god it was a 'smaller' deer but still managed to dent the hood a quite a bit, cracked a headlight and broke the grill. It was her parents who were out of town, thank God otherwise we would have been in a M3, another bimmer saved by a corolla

I'm glad to hear that both of you are o.k. Good thing you didn't hit a moose like I did a couple of years ago in Alaska. Now that was ugly.

Hey izzo sorry to hear about the incident, but glad everyone is now ok! (minus the deer) That is the most important thing that no one was seriously injured and you both walked away. Glad the 1er was spared as well.

Can't wait to see the car this Saturday!
