1M Brake Pad swap
So I realize this is a silly question esp. since I have done numerous brake services before, but because I work out of state all week and haven't done so on this car yet, I want to be 100% there are no surprises when I get home to work on my car friday .....
I have a set of PFC-08's coming in for my HPDE at Lime Rock next week and will be swapping them in saturday. I have had plenty of experience changing other car manufacturers brakes as well as once on a 335 I had a few years back, but is there anything I should be aware of or any 1M/M3 specific/special tools I should have on hand for swapping pads on this little beast? Thanks for the input! |

Be careful with the front pads, the inside and outside pads have different shaped ears. The caliper won't go back on if you mix the pads up. I know from experience that the PFC pads are stacked in the box as 2 insides and 2 outsides. You need one from each stack for each side.

My biggest probablem is getting the two bolts back in but after you do it a time or two you know what it feels like when they seat.

And are you talking about the bolts through the bracket and into the caliper? |

The Guide bolts can be a pain to get lined up at times. Just make sure you have the 7mm hex bit: Follow this and you'll be fine: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=613337 I hope we cross paths again at the track. Enjoy Lime Rock! |

Yep it's exactly the same. Car is good still running well. Have Giac Stage 1 and may have stage 2 by the end of the month. Hitting up Summit Point Main and 3 Days of NJMP Lightning in the next 2 weeks. Oh yeah had to get some new tires running the Pilot Sports now.

I'd love to do some of the other HPDE's this month as well but its not in the budget. At least I will have the pads set for next year as well as funds set aside specifically for events! |
